Day to day activities will be centred around, but not limited to, the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, pavement licensing, scrap metal and legislation regulating the licensing of private hire and hackney carriage drivers, vehicles and operators.</p>\n<p>As Licensing Officer you will take a technical lead and assist the Principal Licensing Officer and wider team in carrying out the Council’s licensing administration, routine activities, and enforcement duties in connection with the licensing of premises, persons and specialist function/s of the Licensing Service.</p>\n<p>Your work will involve dealing with a variety of enquiries, applications, inspection of vehicles, undertaking proactive/reactive compliance visits to licensed premises and co-ordinating the representation process where appropriate. This will involve the writing and presenting reports at committee hearings and supporting legal representatives at appeal, tribunals, magistrates’ courts.</p>\n<p>Whilst based predominantly at the Council Offices, the post holder will be required to work some evenings and weekends as necessary, sometimes at short notice.</p>\n<p><strong>About you:</strong></p>\n<p>To succeed as Licensing Officer you will possess excellent working knowledge and understanding of the various legislative frameworks and be competent and experienced in dealing with licensing data systems.</p>\n<p>You will have an organised approach to casework and a focus on delivering excellent customer service, alongside experience of working collaboratively with internal and external partners. You will have the ability to problem-solve, adapt to competing priorities and maintain confidentiality.</p>\n<p>As an experienced professional you will also be able to competently advise licence holders, the public and officers of the Council on licensing requirements and confidently investigate complaints; gathering and recording evidence to build case files for assessment of further action.
