We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Arboricultural Officer to join our team. In this key role, you will as part of a team deliver all aspects of the Council’s arboricultural service, ensuring our tree management operations are cost-effective, compliant with current legislation, and aligned with best practices.
You will play a vital role in surveying and managing the Council’s tree stock, liaising with contractors, supporting residents, and promoting the Council’s tree policies. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of our local environment and make a positive impact across our community.
Key responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Deliver the Council’s arboricultural service to meet objectives, ensure value for money, and maintain compliance with legislation and best practice.</li>
<li>Survey and monitor the Council’s tree stock in line with our agreed strategy.</li>
<li>Work closely with contractors and colleagues to implement our tree management programme effectively.</li>
<li>Act as a point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders on tree management matters.</li>
<li>Respond to and resolve resident enquiries efficiently, including conducting site visits where required.</li>
<li>Prepare reports on tree-related issues, such as insurance claims, dangerous trees, and high hedge applications.</li>
<li>Develop and promote innovative schemes that encourage engagement with the Council’s tree policies.</li>
<li>Provide technical advice in a consultancy capacity to promote arboricultural best practices.</li>
<li>Manage and deliver the arboricultural components of the Council’s We Know Services, including undertaking surveys across the country and preparing technical reports.</li>

About you
We are looking for someone who:
<ul>
<li>Holds the relevant qualifications including PTI certificate and experience as an arboricultural surveyor,</li>
<li>Possesses excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with contractors, colleagues, and the public.</li>
<li>Demonstrates strong organisational skills and can manage multiple priorities.</li>
<li>Is committed to high standards of service delivery and environmental stewardship.</li>
</ul>

Job Title: Tree and Countryside Team Leader
Location of work: Earlswood Depot
Salary: £40,983- £48,075 (dependant on experience)
Basis: Permanent, Full Time
About the Role
We are currently looking for a Tree and Countryside Team Leader who will lead and support the development, implementation, and effective delivery of high-quality tree management, and countryside services across the Borough.
Working within the Greenspaces team, you will provide expert advice on biodiversity, arboriculture, and countryside matters, whilst overseeing existing Tree and Countryside Officers.
Some duties include:
<ul>
<li>To oversee the delivery of the Greenspaces arboriculture and countryside service areas, dealing with and resolving service-related matters on a day-to-day basis and escalating them where appropriate.</li>
<li>To manage the planning, monitoring &amp; delivery of smaller-scale service-level projects such as tree planting and habitat improvement initiatives.</li>
<li>Ensure the Borough’s tree stock is inspected, maintained, and managed in line with industry best practices, legislation and insurance requirements.</li>
<li>Monitor and manage relevant service budgets, ensuring value for money and adherence to financial protocols, reporting any exceptions or variances.</li>
<li>Review and improve internal processes and site management plans for efficiency and effectiveness, to enhance biodiversity and support the reporting and monitoring of ecological sites.</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;About the Person: 
<ul>
<li>Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within greenspace, tree management, or countryside services.</li>
<li>Knowledge of current legislation and best practices in arboriculture and habitat management.</li>
<li>Knowledge and experience of using a range of IT software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.</li>
<li>Knowledge of GIS or tree management software systems.</li>
<li>Able to demonstrate financial awareness of the services being provided and experience in budget monitoring.</li>
<li>Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.</li>
<li>Excellent environmental and ecological awareness.</li>
</ul>
&nbsp;Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>Have a degree or relevant qualification in Arboriculture, Countryside Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.</li>
<li>Full UK driving licence.</li>
</ul>
