Your work will directly support the council’s ambitions for safe, attractive neighbourhoods, enhancing community pride and wellbeing across parks, streets, beaches, and gardens.What You’ll Be Doing You’ll carry out a variety of tasks including grass cutting, litter and graffiti removal, landscaping, playground installation, and weed control. Operating fleet vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, you’ll maintain street furniture, assist with event setups, and support community volunteers. Your role also involves seasonal duties like snow clearance and gritting, ensuring public spaces remain safe and accessible year-round.You’ll Fit Right In If… You have Level 2 horticulture knowledge or equivalent experience, a full UK driving licence with trailer entitlement (or ability to obtain), and confidence working independently with integrity. About the Role
At Wyre, we take pride in the maintenance and presentation of our parks, open spaces, and cemeteries. To support this work, we are looking to recruit a Gardener who will help maintain our landscaped areas to the high standards our communities expect.
This is a hands-on role working as part of a dedicated team responsible for the day‑to‑day upkeep of the borough’s green spaces. You will assist the Area Team Leader in delivering a high‑quality service across parks, open spaces, and cemeteries, ensuring these areas remain safe, attractive, and welcoming for residents and visitors.
What You’ll Do

<li>Maintain parks, open spaces, cemeteries, and landscaped areas to agreed standards.</li>
<li>Use a range of grounds maintenance equipment, including hand tools, portable appliances, and ride‑on mowers.</li>
<li>Carry out general horticultural and grounds maintenance tasks across the borough.</li>
<li>Provide a uniformed, professional presence while undertaking duties.</li>
<li>Work effectively as part of a team to meet service standards.</li>
<li>Support safe working practices and contribute to a positive health and safety culture.</li>
<li>Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role.</li>

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
<ul>
<li>Previous experience maintaining parks, open spaces, or similar environments.</li>
<li>Understanding of good customer care practices.</li>
<li>Full UK driving licence.</li>
<li>Physically able to undertake the duties of the role.</li>
<li>Commitment to equality, diversity, and the Council’s values.</li>
<li>Reliable and able to demonstrate a consistent standard of service.</li>
</ul>
Desirable:
<ul>
<li>IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).</li>
<li>Experience operating ride‑on mowers and grounds maintenance equipment.</li>
<li>NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or significant relevant experience.</li>
<li>PA1 &amp; PA6a Pesticide Application.</li>
<li>Understanding of fine turf and sports pitch maintenance.</li>
</ul>

About the Role
At Wyre, we take pride in the maintenance of our outdoor spaces. To help us achieve this, we are looking to recruit a Skilled Gardener that has the necessary skills and ability to maintain our award-winning open spaces.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the borough’s parks, cemeteries, and landscaped areas. You will assist the Parks Area Team Leader in day-to-day operations and take a lead role in managing the team during their absence.
What You’ll Do

<li>Maintain parks, open spaces, cemeteries, and recreational areas to the highest standards.</li>
<li>Operate and maintain a range of grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively.</li>
<li>Undertake fine turf and sports pitch maintenance.</li>

<li>Physically able to undertake duties.</li>
</ul>
Desirable:

<li>PA1 &amp; PA6a Pesticide Application.</li>

<li>360 Excavator Licence.</li>
