We are looking for highly motivated lawyers to join our specialist Housing & Litigation Team who are engaged in an exciting programme of developing and expanding their client base and services. We can provide you with varied and exciting work in a dynamic business environment. The team is based in stunning modern offices overlooking London City Airport, directly next to public transport to central London. OneSource Legal Department has 68 fee earners. We advise Newham and Havering: two busy, innovative and progressive councils which require skilled lawyers to help them achieve their goals. Lawyers – Housing and Litigation Legal & Governance PO4 - £38,229 - £41,025 36 hours per week We are seeking a Housing & Litigation Lawyer to join our friendly specialist team to provide advice in a wide range of Housing, Homelessness, Public Law & general litigation matters. Based in Newham, but willing to travel to other offices when necessary, you will be a qualified lawyer with an understanding of the workings of local government including its financial, legal and political context. You will provide legal expertise in civil litigation and housing contributing to the delivery of high quality, solution focused legal work, to clients in different organisations. The post holders will also supervise junior members of the team, including trainees and support staff. You will be able to: • Proactively managing a sizeable caseload of predominantly housing law and homelessness matters for local government clients reporting to our senior and principal lawyers. • Analyse and evaluate large amounts of evidence and provide sound comprehensive but digestible advice to clients. You will have excellent legal research skills in using online resources and have the ability to apply this to practical situations. Possessing good oral and written communication skills you will be adept at drafting concise, comprehensive statements of case, briefs to counsel and other formal legal documentation. In addition you will possess commercial awareness and understanding of client needs alongside excellent client care skills. The London Borough of Newham is a Disability Confident employer.
