Are you up for a challenge? We are looking for an enthusiastic, IT literate, motivated individual to work as a Housing Scheme Officer within our Housing Scheme &amp; Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity, working in a specialist intensive housing management team which is responsible for delivering a comprehensive customer centred enhanced housing management support service through its day to day management of Dartford Borough Council’s sheltered properties for older people. Please note that this is a remote worker role, based in and around Dartford’s sheltered housing schemes, and so efficient use of your time is essential to successfully achieve the many and varied tasks you will be responsible for throughout the day.
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, as is an in-depth understanding of safeguarding issues, but full training will be provided to the successful applicant.&nbsp; Other key duties include signposting tenants to support services and helping tenants to maintain their independence.&nbsp; Managing low level anti-social behaviour from a variety of sources (not just the occupants of the building) is also an essential part of this role, as well as undertaking property management inspections and assisting with rent arrears recovery. Keys area of responsibility will include:

<li>Carrying out the Council’s responsibilities to customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness under its statutory duties</li>
<li>Have an innovative approach to preventing and relieving homelessness</li>
<li>An ability to assess housing need, identify support needs and work with partner agencies to bring about real improvement to people’s lives</li>
<li>Confidence to write detailed and legally sound decision letters in accordance with the relevant legislation</li>
</ul>
You must be able to demonstrate the following:

<li>Confidence, enthusiasm and a flexible approach;</li>
<li>Excellent administration skills, numeracy skills, accuracy and attention to detail;</li>
<li>Good keyboard skills and the proven ability to learn and utilise new software;</li>

<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills;</li>
<li>Full driving licence and use of a car are essential;</li>

Housing Allocations Manager (Ref: HAM) Salary £41,808.52 pa
This is your opportunity to join a busy and forward-thinking housing service, providing expert advice to customers to help prevent homelessness. The role is responsible for addressing housing needs in the Borough by managing all aspects of the Council’s social housing register. You will be working with partners including housing associations to achieve successful lettings. &nbsp;
As the Council does not hold its own housing stock, this role is key in working closely with housing association partners to make sure social rented homes are let in timely manner, in accordance with protocols, to those most in need. You will be responsible for overseeing the team that assesses and reviews applications, therefore you will need experience in applying housing law, policy and eligibility criteria to individual cases through careful assessment of circumstances and in a consistent and transparent way; attention to detail is key. The role is varied, dealing with a diverse client group, so the ability to converse at ease with members of the public is essential.&nbsp;
If you are interested in this role, you must be computer literate and have a minimum of five GCSE or equivalent passes at least grade C, which should include English and Maths. Experience of working in the public sector is preferred, in a housing role. Essentially, you will have worked in a busy and varied customer facing environment, dealing with vulnerable or disadvantaged people. You should be able to demonstrate your commitment to working collaboratively as part of the wider housing team helping local people and families and making a difference to their lives. &nbsp;Training on specific policies and safeguarding protocols will be provided. A full driving licence would be advantageous.
This role requires a disclosure and barring service check as it is working with children or vulnerable clients.
