The Role
As a Homelessness Prevention Officer, you will be responsible for providing expert housing advice and support to a diverse range of applicants, including families and single individuals, who are at risk of homelessness. You will work to prevent homelessness by developing personalised housing plans and ensuring compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Your main responsibilities will include:

<li>Providing timely and detailed housing advice and assistance to individuals and families presenting as homeless or threatened with homelessness within 56 days.</li>
<li>Conducting thorough assessments of those at risk of homelessness, implicating practical measures to prevent and relieve homelessness in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act.</li>
<li>Developing detailed, personalised housing plans that address the specific needs and circumstances of each applicant.</li>
<li>Investigating statutory duties owed to homeless applicants, issuing relevant notification decisions under Section 184 of the Housing Act.</li>
<li>Conducting financial assessments to determine affordability and identify barriers to securing housing for homeless households.</li>
<li>Supporting applicants in accessing private rented sector housing</li>
</ul>

We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive candidate to join our team as an Accommodation Procurement Officer. This role is essential in helping us expand our network of accommodation providers and support households in transitioning from temporary or insecure housing to more permanent solutions.


The Role
As an Accommodation Procurement Officer, you will work closely with our Homelessness Prevention Officers to secure private rented sector accommodation for households at risk of homelessness.
Please note this is a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Your main responsibilities will include:

<li>Coordinating property viewings.</li>

About You
We are looking for an organised and motivated individual with a strong background in housing procurement or property management. The ideal candidate will have:

<li>A thorough understanding of property standards and regulations.</li>
<li>Strong organisational skills and excellent communication and negotiation skills.</li>

<h3>Key responsibilities...</h3>
<ul>
<li>To undertake all required activities in support of the functions of the DFG service, these include requests from residents and referrals from occupational therapists for mandatory and discretionary grants.</li>
<li>To provide administrative assistance and support as required, including maintaining all appropriate records, preparing reports, letters, attendance at meetings, minute taking, organising meetings etc.</li>
<li>To utilise appropriate IT packages to record, update, collate, analyse and present information and data.</li>
<li>To establish, monitor and maintain accurate information and appropriate control systems.</li>
<li>To check final accounts and defects liability and advise clients on payment as appropriate.</li>
<li>To deal with correspondence and enquiries from clients, contractors, colleagues and/or their representatives.</li>

About the role &nbsp;
This role, although contractually office based, allows for hybrid working with an aim of making it easier to manage workloads and a work/life balance. You will also be out and about on the estates, visiting people in their homes. This is a very varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. One day you will be visiting residents in their home to discuss affordable payment arrangements and the next carrying out tenancy sign ups.&nbsp;
You will be creative in your approach to support customers and ensure optimal income collection. You'll also carry out a range of tasks including looking at dedicated accounts and really getting to know your tenants, providing expert welfare benefit and income maximisation advice, assisting in preparing applications for court, organising and attending case conferences and court hearings. You will have an eye for detail and will want to do the best by our residents in supporting them to sustain their tenancies. &nbsp;
About you &nbsp;
The following experience is required for this role:&nbsp;

<li>Experience in income management or debt recovery/collection up to court applications (preferably in a social housing environment although this is not essential) or a similar environment&nbsp;</li>
