Chelmsford City Council is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Housing Standards Team. The role involves handling housing complaints, licensing and inspection of Houses in Multiple Occupation, which includes the assessment of conditions and property management against minimum legal standards. This is an exciting time to get involved with this area of work with the long-awaited Renters Rights Act being introduced, which will see significant changes in how the private rented sector is regulated.
The successful applicant will develop a detailed understanding of the various financial support associated with tackling cold homes and fuel poverty and become our key officer in helping local residents access relevant funding as well as supporting the day to day enforcement work of the team and undertaking a range of work relating to empty properties in the District.
The post holder will have an excellent eye for detail, a logical problem-solving approach and the ability to provide the highest standards of customer service and strong communication and organisational skills to manage a diverse and demanding workload. Applicants should be willing to learn to help develop a sound knowledge of housing legislation with full support from the team.
A full driving licence is required for this post and the nature of the work means that you will need to undertake some activities outside normal office hours.

Independent Living Services Manager (RP0159) Starting salary £55,051pa with progression to £58,445pa through annual increments subject to satisfactory service12 month fixed-term contract37 hours per week Welwyn Hatfield is looking to recruit an Independent Living Service Manager to oversee our Independent Living Service and ensure the delivery of a high quality, efficient and compliant sheltered housing service to over 2500 residents. The role oversees the delivery of effective landlord and support services within schemes and in the community’s ensuring delivery of cost effective and customer focused service which enables older and vulnerable people in the community to live, fulfilling, healthy and independent lives. You will be required to act as strategic lead to ensure the delivery of high quality, efficient and compliant Independent Living service. You will develop and help deliver the objectives of the Transformation Plan for Independent Living. You will drive the change programme, identify opportunities and translate these into deliverables, with clear improvement outcomes.
