The Temporary Accommodation team are looking for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced reactive role, has customer service at the heart of what they do and a “can do” attitude!
You will be required to work as part of the Temporary Accommodation team to provide day to day housing management of the Council’s temporary accommodation for homeless households, supporting families under the government resettlement scheme. You will also be required to provide low level support to ensure residents are tenancy ready to access move on / independent living opportunities.
The Temporary Accommodation team are based in offices just outside the vibrant city centre of Winchester. You will need to meet the travel requirements of the role as you will visit residents in our units of temporary accommodation across the district, as well as conducting health and safety visits at our schemes.
If you are experienced in working in the housing sector with vulnerable households and like to work in an environment where no two days are the same - then this could be the job for you!
We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing excellent customer service, who can work flexibly due to the reactive nature of the role, whilst remaining calm under pressure. You will need to be an excellent problem solver and a reliable team member to deliver positive outcomes to those individuals in the council’s temporary accommodation.

While the council continues to perform highly in homelessness prevention, demand for support is steadily rising. The Council has recently received a regulatory C3 judgement for consumer standards and has devised a comprehensive action plan to meet the new consumer standards which will be a key area of work.
We are looking to appoint an experienced senior leader to build on the excellent progress that is being made in addressing these challenges. An understanding of the strategies to address housing need, coupled with knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulatory requirements of a registered provider of affordable housing, will be essential.&nbsp;
Our Corporate Head of Housing is also part of our senior leadership team. We are therefore looking for a highly capable leader who can deliver a range of high-quality frontline services You will offer sound professional advice to elected members and colleagues and inspire the whole team in pursuit of continued improvement to shape a modern and efficient service, especially as the council prepares for Local Government Reorganisation.&nbsp;
You will have experience at a senior level in a similar role, and your knowledge should be supported by a highly accomplished management style – especially demonstrating the management capabilities to build strong teams and a culture of aspiring for excellent service delivery. You will be a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Housing Management (or hold a Level 5 qualification of a similar nature).
You should be confident in engaging, advising, and influencing within a political environment and across key partnerships. A positive mindset and collaborative approach are essential to finding the right solutions for our district.
