As a HR Assistant, you’ll gain exposure to a variety of different areas of HR, from employee relations to recruitment, training and absence management. Working in one of our Service areas, you’ll provide a tailored administrative service to our staff and build up your HR experience.
You’ll get involved in the day to day running of the Council from supporting with sickness absence management and recruitment to taking notes at meetings and assisting with employee relations cases.

About the Role - As a Systems Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in administrating the HR and Payroll systems and associated processes. You will take an active role in the workplace to share ideas, develop best practice and help build, test and maintain HR and Payroll Systems.
Duties will include:
Create detailed schedules of payroll, year-end processes and system downtime, including communications.
Carry out all aspects of payroll processing, year-end, balancing, controls, checks and any corrective action.
Data management and interfaces (e.g. feeder system uploads, financial system extracts, HMRC, pension funds), production and distribution of reports and returns including required checks and reconciliation.
Build, maintain and test HR/Payroll systems to ensure they are up to date, compliant and meet business needs.
Produce system documentation, user guides and provide support for training as required.
Maintain system security authorisation and data protection.
Deal with change requests as required.
Deal with queries and liaise with internal teams, customers and external bodies as required, e.g. HMRC.
Keep the Business Support Manager and key stakeholders informed on work progress particularly where there are deadlines to be met or an impact on the availability or accuracy of the system.

This means the current two tier system, where services are split between Surrey County Council and district and borough councils like Tandridge, will be replaced with larger councils, which handle all local services. &nbsp;Although this may lead to some uncertainty for anyone considering a role with us, this process will take several years and during that time we still need to provide services. &nbsp;When local government is reorganised, most staff will transfer to the new council which may offer additional opportunities for career development and variety as part of a larger organisation.
