Islington Council is looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Information Governance lead to work within our Corporate Information Governance team, supporting the Data Protection Manager and the Senior Information Risk Owner to help the council ensure we meet our legislative obligations. In particular the post holder will support the council in: • Coordinating investigations into security incidents. • Ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation, and will have an integral part in ensuring the council meets the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulations and supporting work streams to deliver these changes. • Providing specialist advice on matters relating to Data Protection and security incident management • Providing specialist training to all levels of staff within the organisation on matters relating to data protection and security incident management • Play an integral role in the development of data protection policy, process, communications and training The role will also work closely with the Information Compliance Manager and Access to Information manager on information requests, complaints and records management. The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of Data Protection legislation including security incident management, experience of providing training and guidance about Data Protection, security incidents and Information requests to all levels of staff The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to liaise and negotiate, as well as excellent time management skills and an ability to work in an organised way.
