Join our Digital Services team and play a key role in powering the Council’s digital, data and technology environment - so colleagues can serve our community, every day.
What you’ll be doing
As an Infrastructure Analyst, you’ll ensure the stable, secure and high‑performing operation of our infrastructure - across networks, servers (physical and virtual), data communications and telecommunications - while providing expert 2nd line support to colleagues across the Council, keeping vital services running.
You’ll test performance, produce practical insights and documentation, plan and deploy security controls, and help ensure compliance with PSN and our Information Security policy. You’ll also contribute to strategic planning with the Infrastructure &amp; Service Desk Manager and support procurement activity (tenders, contracts and vendor engagement). When required, you’ll act as a lead consultant on specific projects.
What you’ll bring
<ul>
<li>Strong knowledge of infrastructure concepts, protocols and standards, with hands‑on experience across enterprise networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN) and security‑embedded design</li>
<li>Proven ability to administer and support: Microsoft 365, Exchange, SQL, Active Directory, SAN, Hypervisors, Azure/AWS, Arcserve</li>
<li>Practical troubleshooting of servers, routers, switches, NICs, etc., plus clear written documentation skills</li>
<li>Helpful knowledge of Citrix, mobile technology, telephony, VoIP, UNIX/Linux, Windows scripting, and cloud services</li>
<li>Proven ability to successfully deliver infrastructure-related projects</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Excellent communication - able to translate complex technical issues for non‑technical audiences</li>
</ul>
Essential qualifications and experience include:
<ul>
<li>Degree level or relevant experience</li>
<li>MCSE / MCSA accreditation or relevant experience</li>
<li>Knowledge of infrastructure concepts, protocols, and standards</li>
<li>Knowledge of managing and configuring enterprise-wide networks including LANs, WANs, WLANs, VPNs, etc.</li>

 About the Role Can you help us improve the services delivered to our residents and customers? &nbsp;Do you have software development skills, technical ICT experience and enjoy variety? Due to retirement, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Systems Support Analyst and it could be the position you are looking for.
 Joining the small and friendly Business Improvement Team in ICT, you will help deliver the Council’s ICT and Digital Strategy. &nbsp;You will be able to demonstrate that you are an innovative, supportive, positive and flexible person whilst working on wide variety of interesting business change and application projects.
 Key Responsibilities You will be using your knowledge and experience of digital service platforms, API’s, SQL and SQL Server, ETL software, automation tools, ftp, PowerShell scripting, webservices and PowerBI. This could be: • &nbsp; &nbsp;with the Granicus govService digital platform, creating self-service online forms and processes for our residents and customers, or generating efficiencies and business value for our internal service unit colleagues • &nbsp; &nbsp;integrating diverse back office systems using API’s and webservices • &nbsp; &nbsp;creating and managing existing SQL databases • &nbsp; &nbsp;writing and maintaining PowerBI reports • &nbsp; &nbsp;creating and supporting batch work using scheduled tasks, ftp and PowerShell scripting tools • &nbsp; &nbsp;working with third party software suppliers on upgrade and migration projects • &nbsp; &nbsp;troubleshoot third line support calls
 You will be a self-starter and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills along with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.

 Local Government Reorganisation&nbsp; Reigate and Banstead Borough Council is part of the government’s plans for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) scheduled to take place in April 2027. This means the current two-tier system, where services are split between Surrey County Council and district and borough councils like Reigate, will be replaced with two unitary councils made up of East and West Surrey, which will handle all local services. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council will form part of the new East Surrey unitary authority.
 Although this may lead to some uncertainty for anyone considering a role with us, this process will take some time and during that time we still need to provide services. When local government is reorganised, most staff will transfer to the new council(s) which may offer additional opportunities for career development and variety as part of a larger organisation.
