An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Homeless Prevention Officer to join our busy Housing Needs Team.
The emphasis of the post will be to prevent homelessness wherever possible by providing support for customers at threat of losing their homes in a range of situations, including negotiating with mortgage lenders, social and private landlords, and social and welfare support agencies, whilst taking into account the clients housing and support needs.
You will be working closely with housing needs officers to contribute to the decision-making process under the national legislation.
Experience of assessing needs and offering housing advice to the public, including achievement of appropriate solutions to housing needs problems is essential as is multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working in relation to housing needs.&nbsp; It is also essential you have experience of working with landlords to prevent evictions and to enable clients to access good quality private rented accommodation.
It is essential you have the ability to work under pressure in demanding situations, including working with customers in difficult and stressful circumstances.&nbsp; It is also essential you have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The Role

The Role

Your role will be to deliver Swimming Lessons within our Salt Ayre Sharks Learn to Swim Programme and Education Swim Programme. &nbsp;

Swimming Teacher

The Role
We are currently wanting to expand our Repairs and Maintenance Team. The post holder must have an NVQ level 3 or equivalent certificate in Plastering or a minimum of 3 years plastering experience. The Repairs and Maintenance Department has the responsibility for carrying out responsive and planned maintenance works, and void management works to Lancaster City Council’s housing and non-housing stock. In order to improve service levels, meet performance targets and increase the working base, the section is recruiting a Plasterer/Tiler.
A full current driving licence is also essential. The post holder will be required to work a transient role around the district, as they will have to travel between locations and travel within the Council’s designated area. As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees’ driving licence data.
The successful candidate will be subject to a basic clearance with the Disclosure &amp; Barring Service.
This post is permanent, based at White Lund Depot.
The post hours are 37 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 4.30pm, and Friday, 8.00am to 3.30pm), however you are required for operational purposes to work 39 hours per week. As this is more than the standard 37-hour week, you will accrue 1 days leave for every 20 days worked.&nbsp;

The Role
Based within the Asset and Compliance Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the energy contracts for the council’s property portfolio. This will include the electricity, gas and water supplies across the councils commercial and corporate portfolio as well as the communal spaces within the councils housing portfolio. Your hands on approach to communicating with energy providers and end users alike, will allow you to use your skills and temperament to dedicate time to interrogating invoices with the commitment to resolve errors and concerns on a granular detail.
In addition, your experience of working within a social housing setting and delivering projects to help local residents, will allow you to successfully manage ongoing and future projects and funding applications related to energy improvement. This will put you in a strong position to then lead on the council’s ambition of ensuring all our residential properties have an EPC energy rating of C or above. &nbsp;

Working with the Environmental Services Manager, you will be responsible for the daily delivery of services and management of staff relating to grounds maintenance and street cleansing teams and assist in the operation of the council’s cemeteries. You will be responsible for ensuring operational staffing levels and training requirements are maintained in line with budget and that all teams have sufficient levels of competent staff to provide a high standard of provision while ensuring safe working procedures are followed at all times. You will assist with service planning and improvement to ensure efficient and effective service delivery and respond proactively to relevant issues and incidents which may arise. You will be involved in all aspects of people management including recruitment, performance and attendance management and any conduct issues as they arise.
Applicants must have experience in working in a similar operational role, supervising, managing and motivating large operational teams and must have excellent communication skills. A recognised supervisory or management qualification is essential, along with IOSH Working Safely training; a NVQ Level 3 in Horticulture and/or Waste Management qualification would be advantageous.

We are looking to recruit a full time Empty and Affordable Homes Officer to join our Planning Policy team. The successful candidate will provide support to the Affordable Housing Delivery Officer in monitoring affordable housing and bringing new delivery forward, as well as being the main point of contact for identifying and addressing empty homes, by supporting owners to bring them back in to use and even converting them into affordable housing where possible.
Ideally with knowledge and experience of dealing with empty homes and/or affordable housing, you will be a confident and effective communicator and use your skills to engage with empty homeowners, other departments within the Council and members of the public. With previous experience of delivering high performance standards, you will have a clear understanding of the relationship between corporate priorities and the delivery of a high-quality service to our customers.

You will provide a housing management service for the tenants and support them to sustain their tenancies as required.

As a key member of the Accountancy Team, your primary purpose will be to support the Principal Accountant help deliver the statutory financial duties of the Council. You will be responsible for a range of financial and accountancy activities including the preparation of budgets in support of the corporate financial planning process. You will support the closure of accounts process, liaise with the auditors and ensure the statutory accounts are completed on time.
The position is challenging and will require strong financial analysis skills and input into reporting for various stakeholders, including senior managers and Heads of Service. Post holders must be CCAB-qualified accountants or have significant experience in a local government finance environment.

The SHIP Co-ordinator will be responsible for leading on and delivering the Supported Housing Improvement Project (SHIP) across Lancaster and Preston over the next two years. The Co-ordinator will lead a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), including staff from housing standards, housing options, adult social care, fire and rescue service and housing benefits. The co-ordinator will have line management responsibility of the 2 x administrators and provide direction and guidance to other MDT members in relation to the project. The Co-ordinator will manage the delivery of SHIP to provide a joined-up approach to improving quality and standards within the non-commissioned supported housing sector. In particular, the short term or transitional market, where clients are provided with accommodation on a short-term basis, usually up to a maximum of two years. There is often a high turnover of clients within this market. The project will provide a range of skills and expertise from different services, that will help facilitate positive changes in the provision and management of supported housing across Lancaster and Preston.
Applicants should have experience of commissioning or management of supported housing, managing projects, producing reports and presenting to a range of audiences.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit supported housing schemes in Lancaster and Preston and travel to council offices.
As a result, you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.
This post is temporary until the end of March 2027. The hours of work for this position are 37 hours per week, working Monday – Friday 9.00am-5.00pm. This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall.
