Due to the needs of the Shared Service, an opportunity has arisen to recruit a part-time Revenues Visiting Officer for the Revenues team at Lancaster, on a permanent basis.
This key post will prioritise the requirement to inspect and identify empty and occupied council tax and business rate properties for revenue purposes. The post holder will also be expected to undertake benefit visits to resolve outstanding enquiries and offer advice and assistance to the most vulnerable clients.
Duties include:
<ul>
<li>The inspection of new, altered and empty properties, obtaining information re: ownership and occupation for all council tax and business rate enquiries.</li>
<li>Conduct inspections relating to reliefs for both council tax and business rates.</li>
<li>Keeping accurate records of inspection and ensure that inspections are completed in a cost-effective manner to maximise revenue.</li>
<li>Provide information to the public in accordance with current legislation, with particular emphasis on customer care.</li>
<li>Provide witness statements and give evidence when required in tribunal and court proceedings.</li>
</ul>
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the ability to work alone and manage their own workload to meet deadlines. A working knowledge of revenues, together with good communication skills and a customer care attitude is essential, whilst knowledge of the demographic and geographical area, and an understanding of work in the benefits environment is considered highly desirable.&nbsp;
Candidates must have a full current UK driving licence. The post is accredited with casual user car allowance.&nbsp;

Waste Minimisation Officer
37 hours per week

Wyre Council is committed to promoting sustainable waste management and reducing environmental impact. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Waste Minimisation Officers to join our team as we introduce new food waste collections and service changes to boost recycling and minimise household waste.
You will build relationships with collection colleagues and engage with local residents through face-to-face visits, communication and education to raise awareness, overcome obstacles and encourage participation in collection schemes.
Previous experience of working in a waste background is desirable, however consideration will be given to applicants who can demonstrate they have transferable knowledge and skills. A full UK driving licence will be required, together with the use of a car.

Audit and Standards Committee Independent Member
Wyre Council are looking to recruit an Independent Member who will join the council’s Audit and Standards Committee.
The Committee’s Terms of Reference can be found in the Council’s Constitution which is published on our website.
As an Independent Member you will play an important role in enhancing the skills, experience and knowledge of the Audit and Standards Committee and supporting it to continue as a cornerstone of our governance and assurance framework.
The Committee, may be required to meet up to five times a year at the Civic Centre in Poulton-le-Fylde and the usual term of office is 4 years.&nbsp; These are voluntary positions; however, appointed members will be issued with a council device allowing them to access all on-line papers and are also able to claim mileage and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses.
Anyone interested in this role must submit an application to the council demonstrating how you meet the essential and desirable criteria. The successful applicants will be recommended for approval by the Full Council, following which full training will be provided before your first meeting.
The appointment is not open to any person who has been an Elected Member, Parish Councillor or officer of Wyre Council within the last five years or a person who is a relative or close friend of an Elected Member or Officer of Wyre Council.&nbsp;
