The role

Oxford City Council has an exciting opportunity to join their Landscape team. Maintaining over 1,000 hectares of parks, green spaces and cemeteries, we have 5 Green Flag parks, 87 play areas and circa 60,000 trees.

This role is to work as part of a skilled landscape team, providing a high level of hard and soft landscaping.

Oxford City Council is in the process of setting up a commercial trading arm, the landscape team currently deliver a large number of commercial services. It is anticipated that this will grow further.

On a day to day basis you could be doing any of the following activities:

  1. Ensuring that the 87 play grounds are safe and well maintained or replacing equipment and developing existing play areas.
  2. Maintaining parks infrastructure such as fencing, bins, benches, pathways, walls, planting trees.
  3. Working as part of team on commercial projects, over the last two years some of the larger projects have included building a number of school gardens, a beach volleyball court and installing resin bonded paths.

This role is a career graded opening with integrated training and development opportunities to enable you to progress to Grade 5 if you’re not quite there yet! If you are a skilled landscaper with a number of years practical landscaping experience, can work to a high standard, with a good work ethic and enjoy working as part of a team then we are keen to hear from you.
