The Post
In our Housing Litigation Team we are looking to recruit for two permanent Legal Assistants.
The Legal Assistants are to predominantly manage a caseload of disrepair cases. &nbsp;knowledge/experience of housing disrepair work is highly desirable but not essential as support can be provided for the suitable candidates to develop in this area of law.
The Legal Assistant will be expected to:
<ul>
<li>obtain documentation from the Council’s disrepair team to comply with disclosure obligations under the Letter of Claims under the disrepair pre-action protocol including statutory nuisance claims under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.</li>
<li>instruct surveyors and analyse expert reports on disrepair.</li>
<li>advise the Council on liability, damages and costs in relation to disrepair and statutory nuisance.</li>
<li>negotiate a settlement or defend proceedings as per instructions.&nbsp;</li>
<li>instruct Counsel and costs draftsman when necessary.</li>
<li>manage a caseload of disrepair and statutory nuisance cases on the Council’s legal electronic case management system.</li>
</ul>
The Person
We are looking for a self-motivated and hard-working individual who is highly organised in case management. The candidate should demonstrate aptitude and the ability to quickly pick up housing disrepair law. They will report to the Senior Lawyers in the team.

The Post
The Legal Finance and Administration Officer post, is a busy and varied role with responsibility for a range of transaction processing, finance administration and financial reporting which plays a vital role in upholding robust financial controls and efficiency in Legal Services.
The post is located in the Practice Management team, reporting to the Business Manager and working alongside a Legal Finance &amp; Administration Assistant and an Apprentice.
The role is a key function in the Legal Services department and will involve you in a variety of high level finance and administration tasks working in a quality accredited, award winning Legal service which prides itself on its professionalism and efficiency.

The Person Our ideal candidate will be a resilient professional who has experience of working in a similar Legal or office environment. They will have a strong background in financial management and processing &nbsp;and must &nbsp;be either a part-qualified accountant from an IFAC member body (preferably CIPFA) or AAT Accounting Technicians Level (NVQ Level 4).
The successful candidate must have the ability to build successful relationships, work closely and &nbsp;communicate effectively with a range of staff across Legal Services, the council and suppliers. They must be able &nbsp;to help resolve queries and ensure that the financial &nbsp;processes are operating efficiently and effectively. Excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise to achieve internal reporting deadlines, and meticulous attention to detail, are critical for this role; together with a good understanding of effective legal practice management service support or equivalent will be required. It is not essential but desirable if the candidate had Oracle cloud experience.

About the role:

About the Role The Licensing Section is part of the progressive, busy and dynamic Environmental Health department. The section comprises a team of 5 dedicated officers who issue and administer many types of licences, registrations and permits. &nbsp;The range includes the licensing of taxi and private hire drivers, vehicles and operators; animal boarding, sale, exhibition etc; alcohol and regulated entertainment; gambling premises and associated activities; scrap metal; skin piercing and sex establishments etc
About the Person&nbsp; You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be a good team player, and have the ability to work on your own initiative. A commitment to providing high standards of customer service and the skill and discipline to deliver this across a high volume and varied workload and to work to tight deadlines are essential.
We are looking for a positive, supportive, flexible and innovative individual who is not afraid to challenge current processes and ways of working. You will also be required to have a good standard of education with GCSE’s, ‘O’ level or equivalent in English and Maths and a current valid driving licence. &nbsp;A professional qualification in licensing or a legal or paralegal qualification in Licensing Law would be advantageous. Ideally you will have worked in local government or some other public service organisation and/or have experience in an enforcement role and &nbsp;experience of preparing prosecution files. &nbsp;Even if not, we still welcome applications from ambitious candidates who are prepared to work hard and are willing to train.

In the Adult Social Care &amp; Financial Litigation team we are looking for a Lawyer to support the work within the Adult Social Care team. The individual will manage a caseload of adult social care work to include welfare and Deprivation of Liberty applications in the Court of Protection, Ordinary Residence disputes, threats of Judicial Review, No Recourse to Public Funds, and other casework relating to Adult Social Care.

We are looking for an experienced individual, used to working in a busy office within a social care team in a Local Authority, with good practical knowledge of The Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 including Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and knowledge of The Mental Health Acts, with strong organisational skills to progress cases, and manage matters in the County Court, High Court, Administrative Court and Court of Protection.
