The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames and London Borough of Wandsworth present a unique opportunity to be part of a team who are working together to create a ground-breaking shared staffing structure across both boroughs.
The post holder will be expected to deliver high quality and responsive services wherever they are based, as well as having the ability to adapt to sometimes differing processes and expectations.
Duties include liaison & monitoring of contractors to ensure their prompt attendance to breakdowns, effective repair works completed according to an agreed programme, maintenance visits and statutory inspections are conducted as specified. This role will involve detailed analysis of lift breakdowns, use of the Housing Departments Lift Monitoring System, inspections & production of reports detailing equipment condition and standards of maintenance, evaluation of contractor’s reports, and preparation of minor works specifications for tender and assessment together with the processing of resulting invoices. You will also be required to carry out the role of Clerk of Works for a number of major lift refurbishment contracts therefore knowledge of lift refurbishment contract procedures would be a distinct advantage.
You will have a minimum qualification of NVQ level 3 in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent and a thorough knowledge of current lift, CDM, and Health and Safety regulations applicable to lift installations.
Experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of lifts designed for Local Authority use. You will need to be able to convey complex technical issues to colleagues and residents using non-technical language.
Possess a working knowledge of IT systems.
In the event of emergencies you must be prepared to work outside of normal hours.
