Litigation Lawyer

District Law is the innovative joint legal service of 3 councils in Northamptonshire, Kettering, Wellingborough and Daventry. We are now seeking a litigation lawyer to join our small but busy Legal Team.

Your role will be to provide legal advice and support on litigation (criminal and civil), licensing law, housing and information law matters to all 3 councils including representation at Court and tribunals.

District Law successfully provides a first class service to clients for all 3 councils in these areas. We also recognise that in order to build on our success we need to be forward thinking. Already we operate on a largely paperless basis and permit extensive flexible home working to those who have shown themselves to be capable of managing their workload. Council IT equipment is provided to do that.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic lawyer with a modern, progressive approach to legal processes who can ensure that work is completed promptly and on time whilst at the same time complying as necessary with all procedural and legal requirements.

You will need to be highly motivated with proven communication skills, and an ability to think outside the box. You will possess excellent customer service skills, be well organised and committed to championing the highest standards of behaviour and professionalism.

The successful candidate must be professionally qualified. Further details can be found in the formal job description.

You will be based at the offices of one of the councils, to be agreed, but will be required to travel as necessary to the others.

This role offers a comprehensive package of benefits including: flexible working hours, generous leave entitlements, Local Government Pension Scheme, free parking, government childcare voucher scheme and a commitment to training and development.

Should you wish to discuss this position, please telephone Sue Lyons on 01536 534209.

For further details or to apply please visit our website via the link below. Alternatively, application forms are available from Human Resources, Tel: (01536) 534341.

The closing date for application forms (we do not accept CVs) is on Friday 28th July 2017.

We actively encourage applications from people from ethnic minorities and people who perceive themselves to be disabled. This is to address an under representation of these groups.

Kettering Borough Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer.
