We are looking for a handy person to join our team!Our Team consists of 1 Registered Manager, 1 Deputy Manager, 1 Office manager, 3 Senior ARC Worker,10 ARC workers and 1 cleaner.The successful candidate will support the team in the house to maintain the home.<h4>About the role</h4>The handy person's role is to ensure the buildings and outside areas are:<ul><li>Safe and meet Health &amp; Safety and Hertfordshire County Council requirements.</li><li>Well maintained.</li><li>Fixture and fittings are in good order and areas are well decorated.</li></ul>Each day is different, and you will need to plan and prioritise tasks, in liaison with your line manager and the service needs. There is a handy person folder where staff detail any jobs required and there will be times that jobs are not listed. In these circumstances you will be required to identify these.Due to the nature of the service some jobs may need to be done repetitively so you will need to be patient and have some tolerance. You will be required to use a variety of tools, which are provided by the home.You will work closely with contractors employed by the housing provider, reporting and monitoring repairs they are responsible for.Essentially the role is to ensure the buildings, fixtures and fittings and outside areas are safe and well maintained. You will be required to complete a variety of tasks, which include:<ul><li>General carpentry tasks.</li><li>Repairs to fixtures, fittings and furniture.</li><li>Painting and decorating.</li><li>Changing light bulbs.</li><li>Bicycle maintenance.</li><li>Putting together furniture, fixing shelves, and hanging pictures.</li><li>Window cleaning.</li><li>Salting grounds during cold weather.</li><li>Completing H&amp;S checks, such as tools and ladders.</li><li>This list is not exhorted and may include other role</li></ul>Experience in property maintenance and DIY is needed. In this role you may be required to support other homes, though this is rare, therefore driving and having a car is required.You need to enjoy working as part of a team.By joining our team, you will make a difference to the young people and staff by ensuring the environments are safe, well maintained, and homely.<h4>About you</h4>Essential:<ul><li>Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.</li><li>Experience of working in a Trade or as a Handy Person and / or experience of painting and decorating.</li></ul>Desirable:<ul><li>Some experience of interacting/working or supporting young people in different capacity.</li><li>Understanding of Health and Safety.</li></ul>We welcome applications from candidates who currently reside in the UK with established proof of right to work documentation. The Governors of Over Hall Community School are seeking to appoint a permanent Site Maintenance Officer to join our school.&nbsp;
This is an exciting and varied role. The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the school grounds and buildings, under taking minor repairs and liaising with external maintenance contractors to ensure the highest possible standard of cleanliness and health and safety are maintained. The role requires the ability to work in a busy school environment and to work efficiently and precisely under pressure, by prioritising and taking initiative. Applicants should be organised, possess excellent communication skills along with the ability to multitask. Experience in a similar role is essential. Experience in a school setting is desirable. Training will be provided for the successful candidate.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The role is 30 hours per week Monday to Friday. The postholder will be required to undertake work during school holidays.
