The Role
This is a great opportunity at Lancaster City Council, to join and lead a newly integrated Property Team responsible for the Council’s corporate property portfolio and its housing stock.&nbsp;
Working closely with the Council’s wider Property Group and Council Housing Neighbourhoods Team and Repairs and Maintenance Service we are looking for an experienced Housing and Property Manager to help drive forward the Council’s approach to asset and estate management, compliance and building safety.&nbsp;
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the Council’s strategic approach as well as day to day co-ordination and management of the teams involved and works relating to our obligations in these areas.&nbsp; You will provide an effective risk management and proactive approach, ensuring quality services are delivered within budget and supporting the development of effective business systems to enhance our compliance and asset data, reporting and service delivery.&nbsp;
You will play a key role in supporting a transformation programme to enhance our compliance and asset services encouraging and promoting a positive culture across the Council.
This role is permanent, working 37 hours per week based at Lancaster Town Hall.

The Role
We are seeking to recruit a reliable, enthusiastic and self-motivated person to assist in the safe delivery of the high-profile services of Waste Collection.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to:
<ul>
<li>Safely drive LGV’s and other Council vehicles. It is essential you hold an LGV Driving Licence Class C and have the skills required to manoeuvre large vehicles in restricted and difficult areas. Experience of rear steer vehicles would be advantageous.</li>
<li>Deliver the frontline service of waste and recycling collections.</li>
<li>Supervise a team of refuse collectors in the practical collection of waste and recyclables.</li>
</ul>
A current CPC card and the ability to undertake heavy manual work is essential. Previous experience in similar work is desirable.
This is a responsible post and we are offering job shadowing opportunities to allow you understand the role and how the operation works so you can make sure it’s for you, it is essential that you have an appreciation of the contribution that good waste management practices can have to improving the environment, the image of the region and objectives of the Council. You must possess good communication skills, be able to supervise and motivate a small team. You must have the ability to undertake a range of duties and to learn quickly, as well as undertaking tasks with a minimum of supervision. You will be required to work both as part of a team and independently.
Communicating clearly and courteously both to your work colleagues and members of the public is paramount as is your ability to work to written instructions. You will have knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and you are able to clearly demonstrate an understanding of transport compliance and regulations.
You must be flexible, as early morning, evening and weekend work are required. You will be required to work in adverse weather conditions and to handle waste. Full training will be given to the successful candidate. The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working 4 days, 7:00 am to 4:45 pm. On occasion you may be required to work from 6:00 am and may also be required to work until 6:00 pm.&nbsp;
This permanent post is based at White Lund Depot, Westgate, Morecambe.
The successful candidate must be able to work on Bank Holidays which are normal working days (except for 25th&nbsp;December/26th&nbsp;December and 1st&nbsp;January), public holidays and extra “catch-up” days as directed by the Operations Manager. Catch up days for December bank holidays will either be the Saturday immediately before the bank holiday or the Saturday after.
