The Finance Team are responsible for oversight of all Income and Expenditure within the Council supporting all departments to deliver value for money.
The Finance Business Partner will support designated teams within the Council, providing accurate and timely advice across a range of services to support with budgets, projects and procurement.
If you are AAT qualified /CCAB part qualified or qualified by experience, have relevant in a financial environment (ideally in a local government environment) and experience of analysing and interpreting data using Excel, we would love to hear from you. We experience high levels of demand and have a very busy duty function. The team is staffed by a mix of social workers, senior assessment and enablement workers, assessment and enablement workers, community support workers and business support officers. We operate strengths based practice, using the 3 conversations model. The principals in the team are responsible for managing the duty function on a rota basis, screening all safeguarding referrals and proactively supporting the duty workers. They also manage the referrals waiting for allocation, prioritising and managing risk and allocate to staff. They offer front line supervision to the assessment staff including induction, Me Time, performance management, absence management and case monitoring and discussion. All decisions about care act eligibility, need for formal support, increases or decreases in care are ratified and discussed with a principal before relevant escalation.The principals are also responsible for the auditing of staff’s work on a person-by-person basis but also more formal caseload audits. They are an essential part of the overall performance of the team and the wellbeing of its staff and are themselves line managed by the team manager. The current management group is well established and we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic qualified social worker who is ready to become a manager. We are a welcoming and supportive team and progression and training is actively encouraged.This is a part time position and hours of work can be negotiated, although preferably able to work on a Wednesday. The AMHP team is responsible for responding to requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act 1983. As an AMHP you would be expected to provide high quality assessments with a clear social perspective, good social work values including a strengths-based approach. This would be alongside meeting the requirements of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Care Act 2014. As well as applying relevant Codes of Practice, local policies, and taking into account emerging case law in this area. Commitment to your own professional development, including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of mental health issues is key. Including maintaining CPD &amp; engaging with relevant training opportunities. The AMHP service runs with a small team of substantive AMHPs alongside other AMHPs who work on a duty basis and predominantly otherwise work within other adult social care teams in North Northamptonshire or West Northamptonshire Councils. We also have AMHP colleagues who are otherwise based with local mental health services. We are a friendly and supportive team.The AMHP service is currently based at Olympus House, Northampton, however will be moving to Haylock House, Kettering March 2026 [Approximately] The AMHP Team is hosted by North Northamptonshire Council, in partnership with West Northamptonshire Council and provides a service across the whole of Northamptonshire. The daytime AMHP team operates on a duty system with a shift pattern primarily of 9am to 5pm, and 1pm to 9pm, Monday to Friday.
