West Berkshire is seeking to recruit NQSWs who wish to go into front line social work and join our Newly Qualified Social Work Programme.
The Social Work Academy will help NQSWs to become confident and capable social work professionals. We have created a virtual ‘Academy’ to provide an opportunity to develop your skills and competencies in a supportive and creative environment. It gives you the chance to be a NQSW and have time to reflect on your practice and learn from it. You will have opportunities for classroom, e-learning and action learning as well as shadowing and peer-to-peer support. In line with the ASYE guidance you will have a reduced caseload, protected time for professional development and enhanced supervision and training; in addition you will have the opportunity to see cases through from start to finish. You will be supported to do this by an experienced manager, a practice educator and you will attend a Bucks New University ASYE module. This support will give you the best start to your social work career.
We want our social workers to feel valued, secure and supported so that they in turn offer the best possible service to children and families in West Berkshire. To help us achieve this, we've put together a generous and wide-ranging benefits package for our social workers in Children & Family Services.
This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.
Visit www.westberks.gov.uk/socialwork for more information about our benefits and support package, but also to find out from our social workers and managers why West Berkshire is a great place to live and work.
If you would like to find out more please call Juliet Penley, Project Lead 01635 519785.
The Council supports Equal Opportunity of employment, and positively encourages applications from people in under represented groups such as people with disabilities or from a minority ethnic group.
