Hammersmith and Fulham is transforming the way that services to residents are delivered, value for money and service excellence are high on our list.

If you think you have the passion and drive needed to be part of this exciting change programme we would like to hear from you.

This is a key role to support the council’s response to the changes taking place as part of welfare reform as well as supporting the council’s value for money focus by making the best use of the housing stock. It is a dynamic and constantly evolving area of work requiring new initiative to ensure social tenants in the borough are fully supported.

Reporting to the Senior Occupancy Officer, you will help with finding housing solutions for overcrowded and under-occupying households. You will need to work in partnership with other teams in the council and external agencies to support residents with the often stressful process of moving home. We want to make housing in the borough as vibrant, accessible and affordable as possible.

Your remit will include supporting tenants to move into more suitable homes, reducing their costs and freeing up larger properties to help reduce overcrowding and meet housing demand. The team also lead on supporting mutual exchanges, visiting overcrowded households and offering space saving solutions and supporting the council’s seaside and country scheme. You will also be asked to lead on promoting the service to residents in the borough through promotional events and advertising.

If you think you can rise to the challenge, we would love to hear you. Applicants will need to have excellent communications skills, an understanding of general housing legislation and the implications of welfare reform. Ideally you will be able to demonstrate experience in helping vulnerable households to relocate.
