Reading Borough Council Commercial Services has an ambitious programme of refurbishments to ensure we meet Decent Homes Standards across our housing stock which numbers 6,500 homes.&nbsp; We are seeking experienced, multi-skilled operatives to join our Kitchen and Bathroom Refurbishment team.&nbsp; You’ll play a key role in improving the quality and safety of our housing stock for local residents. About the role: This position is full-time Monday - Friday on site by 8:00am and leaving site at 16:00pm. 
The role will primarily be working within a team of operatives in our planned team, installing new bathrooms and level access showers into a a variety of Council-owned homes including houses, flats and marionettes. This role will suit someone with experience of completing full installations of Bathrooms with the necessary skills in Carpentry/Plumbing/Tiling/ Vinyl floor laying and basic plastering. Duties include:

About you:

<li>The ideal candidate must be organized and able to solve problems quickly and effectively.</li>
<li>You will be required to manage your own van stock and materials and therefore will need to work methodically and allow time within your day to order and collect materials/parts.</li>
<li>Excellent communication skills in sometimes difficult circumstances</li>
<li>Skilled, highly motivated and keen to work in a fast moving and constantly evolving public sector.</li>
<li>Full valid manual driving licence</li>
<li>Ideally minimum of a full trade apprenticeship or hold a City and Guilds or NVQ Level 2 qualification in plumbing as well as other basic skills and be able to demonstrate relevant experience within the construction industry. Tiling and basic carpentry is a must, plastering/ vinyl floor laying and other trades are non-essential but preferred.</li>
<li>Experience of workplace health and safety</li>
<li>Asbestos awareness training would be advantageous</li>
<li>Part P electrical qualification would be of benefit but not essential</li>
<li>Experience of working within the Social Housing sector (ideally)</li>

You’ll carry out interviews, home visits, and outreach work in a range of settings including homes, prisons, hostels, and hospitals. Using your knowledge of housing law, welfare benefits, and tenancy rights, you’ll provide timely, accurate advice and support to help people navigate complex and often urgent situations. Where homelessness cannot be prevented, you’ll be responsible for making statutory decisions in line with Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, managing casework to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
Collaboration is key in this role. You’ll work closely with internal departments, health services, social care, and local charities to safeguard vulnerable individuals and secure positive outcomes. You’ll also contribute to service development, support new team members, and play a key role in driving continuous improvement within our homelessness prevention service.
About you: We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with excellent communication skills and experience in problem solving and partnership working, with the ability to work with local residents to ensure their community feels safe. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

<li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions</li>

PDOP is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Social Care Co-ordinators we provide the next step in assessment and support planning to people who are 18 years and over and have a long-term physical disability or are over 65 years old.

 About the Role: The team is focused on supporting people who require unplanned reviews of their existing care and support, or who have been identified by the Advice and Well Being Hub in need of ongoing care and support.&nbsp;
 We operate and adhere to the legal framework for adults; Care Act 2014, MCA 2005, DoLS, 2008 (and where appropriate Mental Health Act 1983 (2007), and work alongside Moving and Handling guidance; and BAOT’s code of ethics.&nbsp; We pride ourselves in working with people in a strengths-based way to; promote wellbeing, rights and independence, prevent the need for care and bring about timely interventions with positive outcomes.
Our aim is to be a high performing, efficient, multidisciplinary team focusing on TEAM Reading values that supports and values staff and the skills and diversity they bring to the team.
 You will hold a varied caseload and contribute to the team performance and positive outcomes for our residents of Reading. Using a strengths-based approach and your unique OT skill set you will support individuals with long term physical disabilities and the elderly population of Reading, to find solutions, promote wellbeing and healthy occupations through a variety of interventions including provision of equipment, adaptations, moving and handling, goal planning, risk assessments. You will work closely with care providers, Housing Services and Health colleagues. You will work within legal frameworks and Reading Borough Council’s guidance, policies, and procedures. You will need to:

<li>Be Registered with HCPC</li>
<li>Community experience is helpful but not essential</li>
