We are currently recruiting for a permanent Payroll and Benefits Controller within Horsham District Council’s Finance Department. You will be responsible for the administration and processing of all payroll documentation, mileage and subsistence claims and ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll legislation. You will work closely with the Council’s payroll provider, carrying out appropriate reconciliations of payroll data and answer queries from employees and departmental managers.

You will also implement and manage the pension auto-enrolment scheme to ensure the Council is compliant with the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and the Pension Regulator. You will also keep up to date with changes in pension legislation and the LGPS and be the contact point for liaison with West Sussex County Council pension department.

The ideal candidate will be educated to a minimum of A-level standard and / or be AAT part qualified and / or have the relevant experience of working within the payroll environment and using computerised payroll systems. Working knowledge of SAP and awareness of public sector payroll is desirable but not essential.

You will be a motivated team player with effective communication skills, with a good attention to detail while working under time constraints.
