<h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has established the new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to ensure high-risk residential buildings (HRBs) are safe and to enable people to feel safe in their homes. </p><p>BSR will oversee changes to the safety and performance of all buildings and raise industry professional standards year after year, working with residents and industry to make sure everybody has a voice in achieving this goal. BSR will serve as a lasting tribute to those who have lost their lives due to poor and substandard buildings and will help ensure tragedies of such proportions as Grenfell are consigned to the past. </p><p>This is an exciting time to join BSR, and as part of this team you will be responsible for shaping an internal culture of high performance and continuous improvement and bringing about cultural change in building safety in your community and in the future. </p><p>Part time working hours are available for this role. We can accept part time applicants who can commit to working a minimum of 30 hours over 4 days per week.</p><h4>Job description</h4><p><strong>The government announced on 30 June 2025 that the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is to become an Arm's Length Body (ALB) of Ministry for Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG) and will be moved out of HSE. This is the natural next step in the development of the regulator and was always a likely outcome once BSR was established. It has been confirmed that the ALB will be a Non-crown, Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB), and as such its employees will be Public Servants, rather than Civil Servants. </strong></p><p><strong>Any successful candidates recruited to this vacancy will initially be onboarded to HSE, with a move to the new NDBP to be undertaken in due course.</strong></p><p>As one of the Building Safety Regulatory Leads, you will lead and manage Multi Disciplinary Teams (MDTs) of regulatory partners i.e. structural safety, planning and fire risk specialists from local authorities, fire services and the private sector to scrutinise the building control applications, building and management of HRBs.</p><p>Key Responsibilities;</p><ul><li>You will be responsible for assessing compliance against the regulatory requirements and standards and making efficient and effective decisions to ensure compliance within the HRB functions. <h4>Job summary</h4>Please refer to Job Description<h4>Job description</h4><p><strong>Overview of the job</strong></p><p>This is a management job which provides leadership and facilitates/enables religious and pastoral care to prisoners and staff within an establishment.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>This is a non-operational job with line management responsibilities for leading and managing a multi-faith and belief chaplaincy team. Although a managerial role rather than being faith or belief specific, post holders must be endorsed by the respective HMPPS Faith and Belief Adviser.</p><p>The job holder will provide for the religious and pastoral care of prisoners and staff in their own faith or belief tradition, and appropriate pastoral care for all irrespective of faith/belief tradition or of none.</p><p>The job holder will work with colleagues to ensure the delivery of PSI 05/2016 Faith and Pastoral Care for Prisoners or its successor policy framework document and also the broader work of chaplaincy in delivering faith and non-faith based courses. The job holder will contribute to the process by which the Governor and Head of Chaplaincy/Profession at headquarters are assured that these policies are being delivered.</p><p>Responsible for leading on developing relationships with various support and volunteer groups and, where appropriate, act as Official Prison Visitor Liaison Officer.</p><p>Takes responsibility for one’s own spiritual health and development, allowing time for private prayer/reflection, study and retreat.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities, Activities and Duties</strong></p><p>The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:</p><p><strong>Team and Personal Management</strong></p><p>• Responsible for leading and managing a multi-faith and belief chaplaincy team, ensuring chaplains are available and accessible to prisoners, the effective administration of chaplaincy, including prisoner lists for events, records updated etc and promotes HMPPS policy in all activities and behaviours; e.g. diversity, decency, safety and reducing re-offending agendas.</p><p>• Responsible for ensuring prisoners’ complaints (including those involving litigation claims) relevant to the Chaplaincy team, have been dealt with in accordance with policy. Carries out investigations and administration in relation to incidents of potential discrimination and reports on findings.</p><p>• Ensure chaplains and volunteers are receiving necessary training, development opportunities, mentoring and personal support including after incidents as well as for volunteers and nurturing them in their contribution.</p><p>• Accountable for the performance of the Chaplaincy team and the staff within it. Manages the achievement of qualitative and quantitative standards within the function, verifying and signing off documentation as</p><p>appropriate. Analyse and act upon data relevant to Chaplaincy. Attends relevant boards/meetings and actively contribute either as chair or team member, produces relevant reports as required and ensures all correspondence is replied to within agreed timescales.</p><p><strong>Pastoral Care &amp; Worship/Meditation</strong></p><p>• Provide pastoral care and seek to ensure spiritual welfare of prisoners and all staff, including acquiring and distributing appropriate faith/belief literature, supplies and materials. With responsibility for arranging and leading worship/meditation for own faith/belief community, plan, organise hospital visits, weddings, funerals, memorial services, where appropriate. Assist with offenders on release into the community, those serving community sentences or other HMPPS funded community initiatives by agreement.</p><p>• Provide expert faith/belief advice within establishment and be responsible for supporting it in ensuring faith/belief groups observe their religious holy days and festivals and for planning and leading workshops and prayer/faith specific meetings.</p><p>• Responsible for ensuring and delivering awareness programmes for prisoners, including bereavement programmes and lifer programmes, as applicable, and local faith/belief awareness training for staff.</p><p><strong>Stakeholder Relationships &amp; Management</strong></p><p>• Work closely with Safer Custody to ensure issues such as deaths in custody procedures, Assessment Care in Custody Teamwork (ACCT) and Violence Reduction are delivered in-line with HMPPS standards. Ensuring, and contributing to, supporting prisoners in dealing with bereavement by liaising with families/prisoners and other third parties; e.g. hospitals, Coroners’ offices.</p><p>• Responsible for ensuring the involvement of the Chaplaincy team in resettlement issues as appropriate and engage and build contacts with own faith/belief community towards aiding the resettlement of prisoners and for the contact strategy with outside faith/belief-based agencies to help with the resettlement of prisoners.</p><p><strong>Resource &amp; Financial Management</strong></p><p>• Contribute to the establishment’s overall achievement of standards and be accountable for the performance and delivery of targets relating to the budget and People Plan. Responsible for leading the development of local policy, procedures and practice and the implementation of national policy for chaplaincy services. Ensures that current Chaplaincy practice is in line with policy (both national and local). Contributes to the development and delivery of the medium-to-long term strategic and business plan for the establishment, with overall responsibility for implementation within their function. <h4>Job summary</h4>Please refer to Job Description<h4>Job description</h4><p><strong>Overview of the job</strong></p><p>Post holders will undertake the full range of offender management tasks with people on probation under supervision including assessment, sentence implementation and producing reports; utilising service procedures and practice directions to underpin professional judgement.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>To assess and manage the risk posed by people on probation to protect victims of crime and the general the public by:</p><p>• Providing information and advice to criminal courts, other criminal justice agencies and partner organisations.</p><p>• Supervise people on probation subject to community orders and licences and during custodial sentences.</p><p>• Contribute to the management of risk.</p><p>• Work with other agencies and groups to prevent crime and meet the needs of victims and people on probation.</p><p>In line with PS policies and procedures, the job holder must at all times demonstrate a commitment to equality and inclusion and an understanding of their relevance to the work they undertake.</p><p>The post holder must adhere to all policies in respect of the sensitive/confidential nature of the information handled whilst working in this position.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities, Activities &amp; Duties</strong></p><p>Probation Officers may be required to undertake any combination, or all, of the duties and responsibilities set out below.</p><p>• To provide professional advice and assessment, including written reports to courts, the Parole Board, other criminal justice agencies and partner organisations.</p><p>• To undertake the full range of offender management tasks with people on probation assessed at all levels of risk of serious harm including high and very high.</p><p>• To use computer based systems to produce, update and maintain records and other documentation within agreed timescales.</p><p>• To ensure timely and effective referrals to, and relationships between, offender management, court teams, victim contact units, interventions, Approved Premises, prisons and external agencies to enhance positive outcomes, manage risk and reduce reoffending.</p><p>• To attend professional meetings and represent the PS at appropriate partnership forums e.g. MAPPA, MARAC.</p><p>• To work collaboratively with colleagues, maintain effective team relationships and provide professional guidance and support to Probation Services Officers (PSOs) and other staff as appropriate.</p><p>• To provide cover within your team and to other teams as required.</p><p>• To undertake prison, home or other alternate location visits as required.</p><p>• To deliver and co-lead accredited programmes commensurate with grade.</p><p>• To conduct mandatory alcohol and drug tests as required, and to follow prescribed medication procedures.</p><p>• Carry out safeguarding children duties in accordance with the PS statutory responsibilities and agency policies.</p><p>• Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills by consistently reinforcing pro-social behaviour and attitudes and challenging anti-social behaviour and attitudes.</p><p>• To work within the aims and values of PS and HMPPS.</p><p>The duties/responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and is not intended to be exhaustive.
