Located on the Lancashire coast, with Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District nearby, Wyre is an area of great contrast and includes urban areas, seaside resorts, a port, traditional market towns and picturesque villages within an extensive rural area that includes part of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The combination of such a diverse area and high development pressures present an interesting and challenging mix of urban and rural planning and regeneration issues.
We are looking to recruit a Planning Development Manager to oversee and manage our team of Planning Development, Enforcement and Conservation Officers. With previous experience of delivering high performance standards in planning, you will be required to deliver a quality service to our customers.
With extensive experience in Development Management, Conservation and Enforcement you will be required to advise elected members and senior officers on strategic issues affecting the organisation and attend meetings to represent the Council on related issues.
The post holder shall be a member of the RTPI with extensive knowledge and understanding of current planning legislation, local government issues related to planning and a clear understanding of the relationship between corporate priorities and the delivery of the service.
The ability to motivate, lead and manage staff effectively is essential and experience of developing staff through mentoring, coaching or similar would be advantageous.
