About the role

We are currently seeking an experienced Planning Solutions Team Manager to ensure the provision of a responsive, cost effective and quality assured Development Management Service. You will be directly responsibility for a geographical or functional area within the Division and duties will involve giving management and professional direction, guidance and support to team members, including planning and conservation officers. You will ensure that development management decisions comply with relevant legislation, policies and guidance and that these decisions are effectively defended in planning appeals. You will also maintain an effective and positive working relationship with councillors, community groups, businesses, developers, land owners and all other stakeholders involved in the planning process and have a clear understanding of their needs and aspirations.

About you

About you The ideal candidate will have relevant planning qualifications and eligibility for membership of the RTPI as well as experience of working within Development Management. You will have excellent customer care and understanding of the role of local government in supporting residents through high quality services. You will need understanding of legislation, policy development, guidance, appeals case law and the ability to apply that knowledge to delivering high quality and responsive planning services. Knowledge of local government, and regeneration and planning services is an essential part of this role and you will be expected to apply this understanding when making development decisions.
