We are progressing our New Local Plan and as such, we will continue to receive exciting and challenging applications in our towns and rural areas. We are an innovative and ambitious planning department, dealing with not only a high number of planning applications but being at the forefront of planning system advances. What is the Role? The successful candidate will be responsible for the processing of a varied development management caseload, with an emphasis on the more complex and major applications including pre-applications and appeals. In this role you will play a significant part in leading and being responsible for the efficient delivery of major and strategic planning applications, including those subject to a PPA. This is an excellent career development opportunity to build on existing experience and/or to gain experience of a broader scope and range of application type. You will have an excellent knowledge base of planning processes and legislation with a proven record of negotiating successful outcomes having worked collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and meeting performance standards whilst being committed to the needs of customers. We therefore welcome experienced officers knowledgeable in the field of Development Management. A successful applicant would require a degree level standard of education, and be eligible for full membership of the RTPI. &nbsp;The Role:
&nbsp;Your role will involve:
<ul>
<li>Supporting the Planning Policy Manager in the delivery of the new Local Plan and other plans, including Supplementary Planning Documents and Neighbourhood Plans.</li>
<li>Providing support and technical expertise, including deputising for the Planning Policy Manager as appropriate and supervising junior staff.</li>
<li>Contributing towards the delivery of high quality, sustainable development and placemaking across the Borough and to contribute towards the Council’s wider aims and objectives, including the delivery of the Council Plan and the Environment and Climate Strategy.</li>
</ul>
What we are looking for:
<ul>
<li>Educated to degree level in planning or a related discipline, and/or a post-graduate qualification in planning or a related discipline.&nbsp;Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent organisation.</li>
<li>Extensive post qualification planning experience, including the drafting of planning policy documents and partnership working.</li>
<li>An understanding of how to achieve results in a political environment.</li>
<li>Able to communicate clearly, convincingly and sensitively, orally and in writing, with a track record of collaboration and team working.</li>
<li>A valid driving licence and able to work during unsocial hours.</li>
</ul>
