Good Growth is the Mayor’s guiding principle for the built environment and sets the direction of the London Plan and all related Mayoral decisions, investments, strategies and policies. This position involves research and analysis to support preparation of the Local Plan and other key planning documents. This includes the Council’s premium fast track service where applications are determined to strict deadlines. There may also be more complex applications as you progress within the role, related appeals, enforcement activity and interaction with local plan work.
You will be contributing to the achievement of the Council’s corporate vision, behaviours and priorities and the development of the Council’s positive high performing culture.
With planning experience, you will have achieved or be progressing toward achievement of full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and have a recognised degree (or equivalent qualification) and/or significant experience in planning.

The Technical Support team works closely with many other service areas throughout the council along with our Councillors and Parish Councils.&nbsp; This enables us to get comments and contributions from all areas of our communities during the planning process.

As part of the Planning Support team, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including checking and registering planning applications for new developments throughout the borough, issuing planning decision notices, facilitating the planning committee process and the appeals process.
