The Role
As a Senior Compliance Officer, you will help us investigate and resolve alleged breaches of planning control.&nbsp; Sometimes these could be quite complex cases which will draw on your experience and knowledge of Planning legislation and dealing with sensitive and difficult situations.&nbsp; Don’t worry if some of these may be new to you, our Team Leader is here to support you too.
You will also:

Are you a qualified town planner with extensive experience of developing planning policies?
Are you ready for your next challenge, leading a team of around 20 planners and other specialists in an ambitious planning authority in a beautiful part of the country?

In this role you will:
- Provide positive leadership for a team responsible for preparing and monitoring planning policy documents, collecting and using Community Infrastructure Levy and developer contributions, and providing expert advice on urban design, heritage and other specialisms.

In this key role, you’ll oversee the delivery of the new Local Plan for the Borough, provide expert policy advice, and support strategic planning across the Borough.
You’ll manage a small team, shape planning policy, and work closely with local communities, stakeholders, and government partners to deliver effective and sustainable development. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a leading role as we start preparing a new Local Plan.
You will be instrumental in all of this; supporting our residents and helping them to understand the role good planning makes in shaping an area.
About you

<li>You are a dynamic, motivated and organised planning professional with significant experience of preparing development plan policies and implementing them</li>
<li>You have experience of managing a Local Plan team and dealing with major and more complex planning policy issues, including the remaining stages of our Local Plan examination and be responsible for the preparation of SPDs, to support the Plan’s implementation.</li>
<li>You must be able to show that you have a sound knowledge and clear understanding of current law, national policy and guidance related to development planning.</li>

This is a full-time, permanent role with hybrid working, and a salary of £44,355 - £53,120 per annum.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic Principal Planning Officer to join our Planning Policy team.
&nbsp;The Role:
&nbsp;Your role will involve:
<ul>
<li>Supporting the Planning Policy Manager in the delivery of the new Local Plan and other plans, including Supplementary Planning Documents and Neighbourhood Plans.</li>
<li>Providing support and technical expertise, including deputising for the Planning Policy Manager as appropriate and supervising junior staff.</li>
<li>Contributing towards the delivery of high quality, sustainable development and placemaking across the Borough and to contribute towards the Council’s wider aims and objectives, including the delivery of the Council Plan and the Environment and Climate Strategy.</li>
</ul>
What we are looking for:
<ul>
<li>Educated to degree level in planning or a related discipline, and/or a post-graduate qualification in planning or a related discipline.&nbsp;Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent organisation.</li>
<li>Extensive post qualification planning experience, including the drafting of planning policy documents and partnership working.</li>
<li>An understanding of how to achieve results in a political environment.</li>
<li>Able to communicate clearly, convincingly and sensitively, orally and in writing, with a track record of collaboration and team working.</li>
<li>A valid driving licence and able to work during unsocial hours.</li>
</ul>
