You’ll play a vital role in high-pressure situations where precision, control, and teamwork are essential.</p><p> All handler positions are reviewed in line with the working life of their GPD, or earlier if required by trainers and line managers. Additional working dogs may also be re-handled depending on operational requirements.</p><p>What you’ll be doing:</p><ul><li>You will respond promptly to requests for a police dog, supplying professional expertise and tactical advice and operational support to front line officers.</li><li>You will conduct searches using general purpose or specialist dogs in support of local officers; to expedite the location of missing persons and the arrest of offenders; and to support local officers in their investigations and responses to incidents.</li><li>You will support the containment of dangerous dogs out of control including inter-familial dog attacks and cases on private property, to protect public safety.</li><li>You must be willing to have a liveried police vehicle at your home address while off duty or use personal vehicle to transport the police dog to and from duty. Decided on by the Dog Section Inspector (subject to additional payment).</li><li>Acceptance of responsibility for the care of the police dog, including walking, feeding, and general care, even while off duty.
