You will be at the heart of local government, playing a key role in supporting the council’s decision-making processes. You will work as part of the Democratic Services team, administering and supporting a variety of council and partnership bodies. Your work will be especially important following the council’s recent SEND inspection, as you take responsibility for managing a range of committees, sub-committees and other councillor, officer and partnership bodies, while also contributing to the effective delivery of the council’s decision-making processes.
We are looking for someone with a degree-level education, or equivalent, or verifiable experience and training. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Information Security and GDPR requirements. You will also have experience of presenting information and advice confidently and effectively to a wide range of people.
<h3>About the team...</h3>
You will be working at the heart of the council in the Democratic and Registration Services division which encompasses three teams working closely with colleagues at all levels across the organisation.
The Democratic Services team works closely with councillors, colleagues throughout the council and external partners to ensure that decision making is timely and in accordance with the council’s Constitution as well as being clear and transparent to the residents of Bracknell Forest.
Whether you are an experienced Democratic Services Officer or just looking to build on limited experience, you will have plenty of scope to develop your skills and expertise within this role. Advice and guidance will always be on hand from a positive and supportive team.

Job description
Principal Accountabilities
Support the Assembly’s committees and their teams to carry out effective investigations into issues of importance to Londoners, including by:
Conducting research and analysis in support of Assembly investigations.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Produce accurate, timely and effective contributions to Committee briefings and outputs, including leading the production of briefing and outputs where appropriate;
Maintain regular research / monitoring systems for topical press reports and GLA policy developments;
Ensuring the accuracy of committee investigation outputs on behalf of the team by conducting detailed proofreading and fact checking;

The Deputy Mayor for the Fire Service, plays a key role in overseeing critical decisions for the London Fire Brigade (LFB), including approval of the Brigade’s annual budget. He also holds the London Fire Commissioner to account for the delivery of fire and rescue services in London. Based in the Mayor’s Policy and Delivery Unit, this role will work to support the Deputy Mayor, working with teams in the Mayor’s Office and City Hall, including the Fire Team.&nbsp;
Key tasks will include:

About the role
The post holder will be responsible for building effective strategic relationships on behalf of the Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority (GLA). The role will support the Mayoral Director: Government, Political and Strategic Engagement and their team, working to ensure public affairs priorities set by the Mayor’s office are met. They will work across the GLA Group, including supporting the GLA Corporate Management Team.
The post holder will oversee the further development of a partnership-based approach to tackling London’s challenges – one that leverages the convening powers of the Mayor and the GLA, drawing on ‘mission based’ approaches. In this way the post holder will ensure that stakeholder relationships are maintained, and that there are effective communications and engagement in the work with GLA senior officers.
They will act as an advocate, and champion for this approach across the GLA, ensuring continued, effective joint working with London Councils and partners building on strong existing relationship.
About you

The Role&nbsp;
The Regional Manager – Southeast is responsible for delivering the Commissions priorities in the English Regions, through the ongoing provision of advice, support and challenge to local authorities in the delivery of electoral and registration services.&nbsp;
The post-holder will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the nature of their regions and the challenges faced by the relevant local authorities.&nbsp; This will assist and enhance the risk based approach to performance monitoring and support against the performance standards and will enable the Commission to better challenge them to meet the standards. The Regional Manager – Southeast currently leads one Regional Liaison Officer who supports this work.&nbsp;
The successful candidate will need to develop and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including Electoral Registration Officers and Returning Officers and local authority chief executives.&nbsp;
The role will require regular travel within the regions.&nbsp;
Who we are looking for&nbsp;
You will have a strong understanding of how local government works across Great Britain alongside a knowledge of electoral administration within that context.&nbsp;
The successful candidate will need to have experience of working autonomously, be able to build and maintain working relationships and to influence a range of stakeholders on a regular basis.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Pay Progression&nbsp;
The Commission is about to launch a new Pay Structure in July 2025 which introduces performance based pay progression depending on performance. Eligibility for the performance-based pay progression in April of the following year is dependent on having completed the required six months service at the progression rating date (31 January). The new structure allows the potential for pay progression on top of any inflationary increase for staff. The range below shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. The full width of the D1 Band starts at £52,420 and goes up to £69,893. Please note that the salary band for new staff is up to £55,041 and our default position is to appoint into the lower zone of the band unless there are exceptional circumstances.&nbsp;
