GLL, the largest charitable social enterprise in the leisure industry, is looking for a new consumer PR Executive to be based at our Head Office in South East London. Growing each year since our inception in 1993, we are now the UKs largest leisure operator with a turnover in excess of £250 million. We work with over 40 local authorities and other partners to make community services and facilities accessible and affordable for all. With a mission to get more people, more active, more often, we operate 300 facilities under our Better brand including leisure centres, gyms, tennis courts,88 libraries, childrens centres, adventure playgrounds, spas and events spaces - all run with the community at their heart.

With an expected 48 million visits to our facilities this year, we have a lot going on and a lot of consumers to engage with. The largest public provider of swimming and tennis, we also offer sailing, climbing walls, trampoline parks and a myriad of human interest stories and events for you to maximise our PR opportunities to existing and potential customers.

You will pitch stories to print and broadcast media and arrange tv and radio opportunities with our senior team of spokespeople. Thriving in a fast-paced environment, you will increase our brand and product awareness nationally and locally, as well working with the wider Marketing and Communications team to develop a calendar of activity. Supporting our regional network, you will also produce templated press releases that are well-written and newsworthy for circulation amongst local media contacts. Working well under pressure and to tight deadlines, you will support our Corporate Communications Manager with crisis communications including information gathering and liaison with journalists and colleagues at all levels of seniority. Adept at scrutinising the success of your campaigns, you will continually monitor, measure, evaluate and improve upon your activities on an ongoing basis this will include everything from increasing brand presence to using social media monitoring tools and reacting to any negative coverage.

You will already be passionate about sport and fitness and understand how to communicate with our diverse customer base. From an agency or in-house background, you will be looking for your next move where you'll have the opportunity to make good contacts from the worlds of media, fitness and sport as well as the third sector, and be able to hone your skills working on a high profile brand. Naturally, you'll have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a dynamic, can do, results driven attitude. Experience of working on high volume accounts would be beneficial.
