This job provides an opportunity to make a positive contribution to safeguarding the special character and appearance of the New Town and Garden City together with the rural areas and villages within the Borough of Welwyn & Hatfield. This is a key role that includes investigating complaints and contraventions of planning control, collecting evidence to support the instigation of formal enforcement procedures as well as leading and managing a team of enforcement officers and supporting planning officers in relation to enforcement matters.

You will have good communication and negotiation skills and be able to demonstrate methodical and well organised working. It is essential that you can understand and interpret technical drawings and plans and able to drive. Ideally, you will have some experience in a development management, planning or enforcement environment.

Our offices are in the centre of Welwyn Garden City close to shops and the station. We operate flexi-time, flexible working and job share schemes.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post.
