<h4>Job summary</h4>In DESNZ, we are leading the Government’s focus on being a clean energy superpower by 2030 and accelerating our transition to net zero. Consequently, our commercial landscape is very broad across entity-to-entity contracts, First of a Kind (FAOK) investments in Hydrogen and CCUS, SMR Procurements amongst many others. This role will focus on being a critical friend to Policy colleagues at the early stages of policy exploration to test multiple commercial arrangements including contracts, grants, concessional finance, equity to deliver the policy objective, whilst looking to standardise and embed knowledge management across this space. The scope of the teams included in the Chief Operating Office include HR, Marketing &amp; Communications, Corporate Performance and Corporate Security while the Finance Directorate includes Finance, Legal &amp; Governance and Commercial. The Commercial Lead for this area acts as the commercial business partner for these functions, leading on sourcing and procurement activity for these areas. In addition, the Commercial Lead is responsible for GPA contractual arrangements for contingent labour including Public Sector Resourcing, permanent recruitment and learning and development. The current contract pipeline is valued at approximately £40m. </p><p>The Commercial Lead is responsible for managing procurement and contracts for the area. This requires building relationships with senior stakeholders across teams to ensure alignment and resource management. This will include creating joint business cases, developing specifications and bid packs and working closely to identify the most appropriate route to market for requirements. Consequently, our commercial landscape is very broad across entity-to-entity contracts, First of a Kind (FAOK) investments in Hydrogen and CCUS, SMR Procurements amongst many others. This role will focus on being a critical friend to Policy colleagues at the early stages of policy exploration to test multiple commercial arrangements including contracts, grants, concessional finance, equity to deliver the policy objective, whilst looking to standardise and embed knowledge management across this space. Candidates will need to find a quiet, private space to undertake the assessment and are required to be online and on camera for the duration of the assessment event using a stable internet connection.</p><p>It is our intention that suitable applicants who perform well at the Assessment Centre, but who fall just short of the required standard for the Graduate Programme, may be offered (Executive Officer) posts in the Department if there are positions available. This is not guaranteed.</p><p><strong>Pre-requisites</strong></p><p>The Assessment Centre is virtual and will be delivered using MS Zoom. We encourage all attendees to register for a Zoom account in advance to ensure the day runs smoothly. The assessment platform must be accessed via a PC or laptop. Devices such as tablets or smartphones are not appropriate to undertake this Assessment Centre. Candidates will need the following available on their desktop PC or laptop: </p><ul><li>Camera / Webcam</li><li>Mouse &amp; Keyboard</li><li>Microphone (built-in microphone, a USB microphone or online microphone on headphones)</li><li>Speaker or Headphones</li></ul><p>There will be no reimbursement for any expenses (where incurred) for the Assessment Centre.<br><br>Please note offers of employment are subject to achieving satisfactory pre-employment and security checks. These include an Occupational Health Assessment and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). As part of this you will need to confirm your identity, employment/education history, nationality and any criminal record (unspent convictions only).<br><br>The level of security needed is Security Check (SC) and you should usually have been continuously resident in the UK for 5 years immediately before clearance action commences. If you have lived overseas or travelled extensively during this period, it may affect the length of time to obtain full security clearance and this may affect your offer of employment. It is essential that ALL requests for information are completed fully and timely, as incomplete information may result in significant delays. Offers of employment are also subject to candidates achieving acceptable grades where predicted.</p><p><strong>Nationality requirements</strong></p><p>Open to UK nationals only. You must be a British National to apply for this role. If you hold a Dual Nationality can still apply and this will not impact your application and assessment in any way.
