Wokingham Children’s Services are looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker in the MASH Team on a Permanent Basis. The MASH Team is a fast-paced team and the Single Front Door into Children’s Services and Early Help, the role represents the wider service and is often the first point of contact for families, members of the public and professionals. Strong relational skills are key to respond to others in need, and sometimes in crisis. Most of the work undertaken will be on the phone, however the team also have a walk in service, should a family wish to present to the office for advice and support.
As a Social Worker in the MASH Team you will need to be able to process contacts within timescales and as part of this role you will speak to members of the public, professionals, and family members and provide detailed analyses and recommendations about next steps for families and complete safety planning as required.&nbsp; The MASH Team completes robust work at the front door to ensure that the correct level of support and intervention is provided, in line with the Threshold document.
The correct candidate for this role will need to have great inter-personal skills, excellent recording skills, and a sound knowledge of children’s legislation and thresholds – as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task.&nbsp; The MASH Team is currently working in a hybrid way with Social Workers on a rota basis. We need to have social work presence in the office – so a level of flexibility is required.

The Social Worker role – You will work as part of a dynamic and multi-agency team assessing safeguarding notifications and requests for early help regarding children aged prebirth - 18.&nbsp; Your focus will be on gathering relevant information, in order to interpret and analyse strengths and safety, harm and danger to safeguard and promote the welfare of the child/young person.
The MASH team is home to representatives from our partner agencies including Police and Health and refers to the virtual links we have with Housing, Probation, Education and Cranstoun Domestic Abuse &amp; Substance Misuse Services. The right candidate must work collaboratively with these agencies to make sure the child’s voice is evident through the work completed.
This is a fast-paced team and requires committed and resilient social workers to rise to the challenge of this role!

About the role: This position is full-time Monday - Friday on site by 8:00am and leaving site at 16:00pm. 
The role will primarily be working within a team of operatives in our planned team, installing new bathrooms and level access showers into a a variety of Council-owned homes including houses, flats and marionettes. This role will suit someone with experience of completing full installations of Bathrooms with the necessary skills in Carpentry/Plumbing/Tiling/ Vinyl floor laying and basic plastering. Duties include:

About you:

<li>The ideal candidate must be organized and able to solve problems quickly and effectively.</li>
<li>You will be required to manage your own van stock and materials and therefore will need to work methodically and allow time within your day to order and collect materials/parts.</li>

<li>Skilled, highly motivated and keen to work in a fast moving and constantly evolving public sector.</li>
<li>Full valid manual driving licence</li>

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Commissioning Team at West Berkshire Council as the Sufficiency and Market Development Lead. 
The Role
As the Sufficiency and Market Development Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that there there is a sufficiency of high quality and specialist services locally to meet both the current and future needs of our children and young people. You will be responsible for:

Market Analysis and Development: Undertake detailed assessments of the local children’s social care market, identifying gaps and opportunities for service growth and improvement.</li>
<li>
Provider Engagement: Build strong relationships with care providers, supporting them to develop and deliver high-quality services that align with local authority priorities.</li>
<li>
Service Innovation: Lead the design and implementation of new service models, working collaboratively with stakeholders to meet emerging needs.</li>
<li>
Strategic Planning: Develop and deliver a market development strategy that ensures sustainable, flexible, and cost-effective services.</li>
<li>
Quality and Performance: Monitor and evaluate the performance of providers, driving improvements and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safeguarding standards.</li>
<li>
Procurement and Contract Management: Support the commissioning process, including procurement and contract management, ensuring value for money and alignment with strategic objectives.</li>
</ul>

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
<ul>
<li>Experience of commissioning/procuring services in the context of children's social care or SEND&nbsp;</li>
<li>Commercially astute</li>
<li>Knowledge of market development and provider management</li>
<li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions</li>
<li>Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills</li>
<li>Effective communication skills, both written and verbal</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities</li>
</ul>

About the role: • Leading on your own caseload and work collaboratively with other partner agencies. • You will work with members of the public to prevent them from losing their current home or to support them to secure a new one. • The focus of the role is to prevent households from being homeless whilst working within the legal framework. • The successful candidate will have the ability to negotiate through a variety of environments • Will require you to have difficult conversations and deliver on realistic expectations.
Main Duties and responsibilities: In this vital role, you’ll be working directly with residents at risk of homelessness to identify the root causes of their housing issues and support them to find lasting solutions. You’ll create and manage personalised housing plans, tailoring your approach to meet the unique needs of each customer. Whether it's negotiating with landlords, mediating family breakdowns, or identifying benefit entitlements, you’ll be there every step of the way to support people in maintaining or securing accommodation.
You’ll carry out interviews, home visits, and outreach work in a range of settings including homes, prisons, hostels, and hospitals. Using your knowledge of housing law, welfare benefits, and tenancy rights, you’ll provide timely, accurate advice and support to help people navigate complex and often urgent situations. Where homelessness cannot be prevented, you’ll be responsible for making statutory decisions in line with Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, managing casework to ensure compliance with legislation and best practice.
Collaboration is key in this role. You’ll work closely with internal departments, health services, social care, and local charities to safeguard vulnerable individuals and secure positive outcomes. You’ll also contribute to service development, support new team members, and play a key role in driving continuous improvement within our homelessness prevention service.
About you: We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated person with excellent communication skills and experience in problem solving and partnership working, with the ability to work with local residents to ensure their community feels safe. You will need to be able to complete case records, collate evidence and write witness statements, all underpinned with excellent organisational &amp; IT skills and the ability to manage your own workload.
