The Group oversees the building of a strategic vision for modernising and digitising our legacy systems, generating a coordinated plan across the MoJ and its agencies for transformation, and tracking delivery of this transformation.</p><p>Security and information management are fundamental building blocks of enabling the department to deliver. We have highly skilled experts working collaboratively with the department, Government Security Group, Government Knowledge and Information Management profession and other partners to enable the whole of the MoJ to function securely, lawfully and transparently.</p><p>We identify, manage, and mitigate MoJ’s security, data protection and information risks, and provide assurance against those risks. We’re also home to the Counter Fraud Centre of Expertise. This is a leadership role with real impact: you will shape and embed an in-house National Security Vetting service, strengthen aftercare provision, and ensure our overseas security arrangements meet the highest standards.</p><p>You will work in partnership with the G7 Insider Risk Lead to deliver a proactive, integrated personnel security and insider risk capability across the Ministry of Justice. Take strategic ownership of the Ministry of Justice’s National Security Vetting (NSV) function, ensuring clearance capacity is effectively managed and all processes align with HMG and MoJ policy.</li><li>Deliver and Embed the In-House NSV Service: Lead the seamless transition from external provision to a fully operational in-house National Security Vetting service. Drive implementation at pace while ensuring robust risk management, compliance, and operational excellence.</li><li>Develop and Mature Aftercare Provision. Build and enhance the NSV Aftercare capability, ensuring it is fit for purpose and supports the long-term integrity of the vetting process.</li></ul><p><strong>Overseas security</strong></p><ul><li>Shape Overseas Security Policy and Practice. Oversee MoJ’s approach to overseas travel, identifying gaps in service provision and leading improvements in policy and operational practice to meet HMG expectations.</li><li>Deliver Trusted Security Advice. Ensure the overseas travel security service provides timely, accurate, and supportive guidance to staff, enabling safe and secure travel across global locations.</li><li>Collaborate to Close Gaps. Work closely with stakeholders to identify and address potential gaps in service provision or policy, ensuring risks are mitigated and standards are consistently upheld.</li></ul><p><strong>Leadership and Continuous Improvement</strong></p><ul><li>Lead and Empower a High-Performing Team. Manage a team of approximately 13 staff based across the UK. With direct line management of 1 SEO. Set clear objectives, promote collaboration, and ensure the team works as one to deliver for MoJ.</li><li>Build Capability and Team Spirit. Champion professional development and resilience within the personnel security team, creating a strong, supportive culture and developing security professionals for the future.</li><li>Drive Innovation and Efficiency. Identify opportunities to leverage automation and data-driven insights to improve performance, deliver cost savings, and streamline processes. Take decisive action to implement improvements.</li><li>Integrate Insider Risk with Personnel Security. Provide expert guidance to ensure the Insider Risk Programme is fully embedded within the wider personnel security function. Champion a joined-up approach that anticipates emerging threats, drives cultural change, and strengthens MoJ’s resilience.</li><li>Adapt to Strategic Priorities. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security. It is an independent, arm’s length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s purpose Is protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector. Its regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom. </p><p>The SIA has two main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry and the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria. </p><p>SIA licensing covers security operatives who are in guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV, vehicle immobilisation (in Northern Ireland) and key holding. Licensing ensures that private security operatives are fit and proper persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job. </p><h4>Job description</h4><p>As Deputy Director Compliance and Inspections – Private Security, you will be responsible for the SIA’s private security compliance and inspections capability, providing strategic leadership over the regulatory work and teams delivering this statutory function.
