<h4>Job summary</h4>Forensic Services provides a range of capabilities to support the NCA's fight against Serious and Organised crime. At the heart of everything we do is the Forensic Science Regulator's Codes of Practice and for the Identification Bureau this means compliance to international accreditation standard ISO 17025.The Identification Bureau is a specialist team of Fingerprint and DNA subject matter experts who provide NCA with a range of services to deliver robust evidence and intelligence to support the identification of subjects. The team manages the NCA’s access to the UK National Fingerprint Database (IDENT1) to support various automated identification activities in support of NCA core business and International fingerprint requirements, including Prüm Fingerprint exchange. The business area conducts fingerprint analysis, comparison and searching activity in support of criminal justice outcomes and international fingerprint requirements on behalf of the UK, providing expert witness evidence for the organisation as required. The Fingerprint Identification Officer role processes subject fingerprints and examines scene of crime marks in line with bureau policy and within agreed quality standards, carrying out relevant searches either manually or electronically. They play a key role in supporting the established technical fingerprint capability including the implementation of accreditation across services offered. <h4>Job description</h4>Fingerprint Identification Officer duties are varied and include the undertaking of both technical and administrative functions to manage fingerprint records and casework material relating to agency operations. The Fingerprint Identification Officer provides non reporting support to the agency's Identification Bureau maintaining the operational and technical efficiency and effectiveness of all identification services. Maintaining and operating biometric systems, performing identity checks, ensuring data integrity and compliance with quality standards and legal requirements such as Protection of Freedoms Act are all part of day to day activities. Fingerprint Identification Officers also play a key role in validation and verification of fingerprint methods to assist with demonstrating continued compliance to ISO 17025. Where satisfactory competence is demonstrated further training on the fingerprint learning programme may be offered as part of a progression plan to grow the next generation of expert witnesses. The role is based in the Tamworth office and due to the nature of the role does not offer hybrid working. Warwickshire Police Special Constable - 2026 intake
Special Constables are voluntary, part-time police officers who work in some of the most important areas of modern policing.
As a fully-trained Special Constable, you will have full police powers, wear a police uniform and work alongside regular police officers and police staff, with opportunities for promotion and to develop your leadership and management skills.

Roles and responsibilities
As a Special Constable, you’ll learn about policing, develop new skills, meet people, enjoy new experiences and protect people from harm. You will be fully trained to give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to handle even the most difficult of situations.
Special Constables work across a variety of policing teams, and when fully-trained can do everything that a regular police officer does, including:
<ul>
<li>Patrols on foot and in police vehicles</li>
<li>Roads policing</li>
<li>Searching people, vehicles and premises</li>
<li>Investigating crime, arresting suspects and taking statements from witnesses</li>
<li>Policing major events, such as festivals, marches and football matches</li>
<li>Tackling local issues, such as anti-social behaviour and harassment.</li>
</ul>
After a comprehensive initial training period, you’ll be attached to a Tutor Constable for approximately 9-12 months. Initial training will take roughly 4 months, this will consist of weekend and evening training. During this time, you will complete a personal development portfolio covering various aspects of policing, and you are then signed off for independent patrol.
For those officers who commit the time and dedication, there are many opportunities available, and you are able to apply to work with the following teams when vacancies are available:
Patrol:&nbsp;these are the frontline, uniformed teams that respond to 999 and 101 calls, as well as proactively patrolling and dealing with any crimes they come across.
Safer Neighbourhoods Teams:&nbsp;these teams are based at local police stations across Warwickshire. They deal with community issues, anti-social behaviour and long-term problems in specific areas.
Operational Policing Units:&nbsp;these contain Roads Policing Officers working on the frontline, as well as being deployed with pre-planned operations.
Police Support Units:&nbsp;these are the public order units that support other police services at football matches, protests and marches. They also respond to incidents of major disorder

Recruitment Process
This is a rolling recruitment campaign.&nbsp; A member of the recruitment team will be in contact if we require any additional information to support your application.
After we have shortlisted your application you will then invited to complete a Values and Behaviours Assessment, and a Situational Judgment Test.&nbsp; You can do these in any order and at your own convenience over a 7 day period.&nbsp;
Please note that you can only complete these assessments with one police force and once registered with a police force and either not completing the assessment, or being unsuccessful, you will be unable to reapply for 3 months to any police force.
Your next stage will be an invite to interview with our current Special Constabulary members and other representatives of the force.
