We are looking for a SEN & Disability (SEND) Strategy Officer to join the SEN & Disabled Children’s Team in West Berkshire.

West Berkshire has successfully implemented the SEND Reforms brought about by the Children and Families Act 2014. We now plan to conduct a strategic review of all of our provision for children with SEND, leading to a new SEND Strategic Plan, which will be co produced with parents and carers of children with SEND and with the young people themselves.

You will be responsible for leading on the strategic review, including gathering data, chairing meetings, working closely with parents and other stakeholders, and reporting at key stages to Elected Members of the Council. Once the Plan has been completed, you will also lead on some of the projects within the plan, such as setting up new specialist provision.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to children with SEND in West Berkshire and their families. You will need a good knowledge of SEN and Disability, successful project planning experience and the ability to work on your own initiative and to tight deadlines. You will also require a high level of interpersonal skills and a commitment to working in coproduction with parents.

This role has been identified as public facing in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2017; the requirement to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in English applies.

Interviews will be held on 6th October at West Street House, West Street, Newbury.

This is a one year fixed term post in the first instance, with the possibility of extension. The post is available either on a fixed term contract or as a secondment opportunity for existing West Berkshire Council employees.
