The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has a good planning service which we are aiming to transform to excellent. We are looking to recruit a range of new staff.
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Conservation Officer who has the skills and passion to support our conservation work. We have 27 Conservation Areas, nearly 2000 Listed Buildings, 9 Historic Parks and Gardens and 17 Ancient Monuments. There is much development pressure in the Borough and an expectation of growth.
You would focus on giving advice on planning policy and development proposals that affect listed buildings and conservation areas, you would often be working as part of the development team responding to major planning applications, providing urban design advice on larger new developments and technical assessment to back up enforcement cases. The challenge to balance conservation impact with expectations for growth is ever present.
You would carry out Conservation Area appraisals and work closely with local heritage interest groups.
There is always some interesting conservation work to do! And this would be an ideal place to grow and consolidate your career.
Windsor and Maidenhead is an economically strong and growing Borough. The two main towns have different planning pressures, the culture and heritage of Windsor and the regeneration of Maidenhead and there are many small towns and villages are located within the Green Belt that all bring conservation challenges for growth and development.
Located within easy access of Central London this is an attractive place for business growth and investment. This is also a great place to live and work with excellent transport connections to London and the West of England, and with the Elizabeth (Cross Rail) Line opening in Maidenhead in 2019.
