We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated senior lawyer to join our specialist Housing & Litigation Team who are engaged in an exciting programme of developing and expanding their client base and services. The post is permanent. We can provide you with varied and exciting work in a dynamic business environment. The team is based in stunning modern offices overlooking London City Airport, directly next to public transport to central London. OneSource Legal Department has 68 fee earners. We advise Newham and Havering: two busy, innovative and progressive councils which require skilled lawyers to help them achieve their goals. Senior Lawyer– Housing and Litigation Legal & Governance PO6 - £42,876 - £45,666 36 hours per week We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated senior lawyer to join our specialist Housing & Litigation Team. Based in Newham, but willing to travel to other offices when necessary, you will be a qualified lawyer with an understanding of the workings of local government including its financial, legal and political context. On a day to day basis you will use your excellent legal knowledge of local government powers and duties in Housing Law and Litigation, with a proven track record of dealing with Public Law challenges, Judicial Review, Homelessness issues & Appeals under s.204 Housing Act 1996. You will oversee a small team of Housing and Litigation lawyers and legal officers in the provision of legal advice to clients both within Havering and Newham and other councils if required, and report to our Principal Lawyer. As a qualified lawyer, you will have the ability to contribute towards setting the strategic direction of Legal Services, supporting the senior management team to develop the overarching strategy for the service and the necessary supporting plans for delivery, with and through partners. In addition the successful candidate will have experience in: • People management including, motivation, performance and capability • Leadership in the provision of functions within the Shared Service • Service improvement, maximising efficiency and new delivery models for the functions within the shared service • Managing and delivering transformational change in Legal Services • Skilled communication with the ability to communicate orally and in writing to a diverse range of audiences The London Borough of Newham is a Disability Confident employer.
