Located in the heart of Surrey yet within 30 minutes of Waterloo station, Woking is one of the leading towns in Surrey. The Council’s forward thinking attitude and pioneering approach to building sustainable communities makes the business of planning both exciting and challenging. Significant growth is planned with an emphasis on ambitious town centre regeneration to compliment recently delivered improvements. By contrast 60% of the borough is designated as Green Belt and forms the backdrop to a number of villages which retain much of their historic character. With its combination of attractive green spaces, excellent transport links and a thriving business community, Woking is a quality place to live and work.

We are looking for a senior planner with relevant experience to undertake a range of duties within the Development Management Team.

You will play a part in planning for the delivery of high quality new development which respects and contributes to the diverse character and heritage of this dynamic borough. You will have excellent communication and report writing skills as well as a commitment to customer focused services and adding value through planning. A full driving license is essential.

In return we can offer you the chance to develop your career in our progressive authority, a generous flexi time scheme, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.

Under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, this post is politically restricted and therefore will prevent the employee from having any politically active role either in or outside the workplace.

For an informal discussion about this post please contact Dan Freeland, Development Team Leader on 01483 743456.

Interviews will take place during week commencing 3 April 2017.
