We are looking for a Sexual Health Commissioner to cover maternity leave within our newly established Public Health Joint Commissioning Unit. Working across Cambridgeshire County Council and Peterborough City Council this role presents an exciting opportunity in local government and health-related commissioning.
About the role
You will be responsible for the contract management and effective performance of a range of contraceptive and sexual health services across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Working with colleagues in the Joint Commissioning Unit you will undertake the tasks and processes related to the commissioning cycle including needs assessment, market engagement, specification development, procurement and contract management.
Through innovation and research of best practice you will identify improvements to existing ways of working; ensuring local services continue to deliver high quality public health outcomes and maximum value for money.
You will be passionate about improving health outcomes and making the best use of resources to deliver high quality, cost efficient services.
You will have a strong knowledge of public sector commissioning with direct experience of commissioning and delivering complex projects in collaboration with others. You will have a solid understanding of public health and the challenges facing Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Excellent influencing, communication and interpersonal skills will be essential to this role. You will be politically aware, adept at forging collaborative and productive partnerships with others to deliver shared outcomes and initiatives. Your experience of contract management and working to improve the performance of others will be paramount in providing challenge and scrutiny to providers in a constructive way.
High level analytical skills coupled with budget management and project management skills are essential to undertake take key tasks within the commissioning process.
You will be educated to degree level or have equivalent relevant experience. Additional qualifications in Public Health are desirable.
