This provides the customs and transit checks required for hauliers following Brexit.</p>\n<p><strong>The Role:<br></strong></p>\n<p>You will be responsible for undertaking a range of statutory duties to safeguard public health. Conducting Official Controls you will be carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin in order to ensure that only products that are safe to eat enter the food chain. </p>\n<p>In addition, you will direct the work and activities of the Technical Assistants.</p>\n<p><strong>We are looking for someone who: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>can manage and prioritise a busy workload and who can work independently or as a team.</li>\n<li>can make justifiable decisions based on facts.</li>\n<li>has excellent communication skills.</li>\n<li>is adaptable, self-reliant, dependable, confident and a creative problem solver.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>As an employee of Ashford Borough Council, you will have the opportunity to work with other environmental health professionals across the organisation to broaden your experience. </p>\n<p>We have a range of hours available from Monday to Friday, condensed or hours worked over a shift pattern.
