An exciting opportunity has arisen within the well-established and expanding MCA and DoLS Team within the Safeguarding Team at BNSSG ICB.
This role will be demanding and dynamic, reflecting the progressive growth of our service and the commitment of the ICB to fulfilling its statutory duties by innovating and embedding a "gold standard" approach within the completion of mental capacity assessments, best interests decision-making, and the Community DoLS process across the BNSSG ICB.
You will be joining a well-established team that continues to develop innovative systems and processes and has developed positive working relationships with stakeholders in this area.
You will be responsible for obtaining, evaluating, and analysing complex evidence and differing views, and weighing them appropriately in decision-making. You will identify deprivations of liberty and prepare all necessary documentation on prescribed forms in preparation for submission to the Court of Protection.
You will demonstrate through your practice a strong commitment and comprehensive understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, the changing legal landscape around deprivation of liberty and safeguarding.
You will be a qualified Best Interests Assessor (BIA) and willing to undertake further training to practice as an Approved Mental Capacity Professional (AMCP) when the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) become operational.

The post holder will fulfil the duties and responsibilities of Community DoLS Assessor across the ICB footprint gathering relevant information, completing all necessary assessments and submitting applications to the Court of Protection in accordance with&nbsp;Re X&nbsp;Streamlined Procedure. Such information is to include, amongst other things, completing robust capacity assessments, and legally defensible best interests assessments determining and ensuring that where deprivation of liberty occurs, they are necessary, proportionate, and in the service user's best interests. To prepare all supporting documentation for Community DoLS applications under the&nbsp;Re X&nbsp;Streamlined Procedure and in particular capacity assessments and best interests decision-making, ensuring all interested parties are consulted and where appropriate identifying the need/making an appropriate referral for an IMCA/Rule 1.2 Representative. Be responsible for a caseload of Community DoLS cases as allocated by the Senior MCA and DoLS Manager.
Liaise with families and care providers in an appropriate manner, providing advice and support regarding the Community DoLS process whilst maintaining independence and ensuring the service user is at the centre of all decisions made.
To undertake assessments of capacity and best interests decision-making in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 on any case known to the ICB and record them to a high professional standard, that will withstand legal challenges.
Identify cases that require welfare applications to be made to the Court of Protection.
To support colleagues within the ICB in matters relating to mental capacity and best interests decision-making and provide advice and guidance as required.
To support the Senior MCA and DoLS Manager to embed a gold standard MCA practice in all ICB activities.
Provide support during the transition from the current Community DoLS arrangements to the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS), in accordance with the Mental Capacity (Amendment) Act 2019 and its Code of Practice, when implementation is confirmed by the Government.
Participate in project activity and lead on specific projects or pieces of work on behalf of the Senior MCA and DoLS Manager, taking responsibility for the achievement of outcomes within required timescales.
Work with colleagues to ensure that appropriate knowledge is shared within the team.
Act as advocate for complex and vulnerable service users.
Undertake steps to provide or develop care plans where appropriate in consultation with other professionals.

The Role:&nbsp;
To engage with customers on a wide range of housing, welfare, and benefits matters through face-to-face contact, telephone advice, home visits and remote support. To work proactively with both in-house teams and external statutory and voluntary agencies to secure the best outcomes for customers. To maximise available resources&nbsp;by ensuring households access all eligible benefits and by exploring every available funding stream to provide support; particularly for those who have recently been granted refugee status, arrived in the UK under a government-funded resettlement scheme, or entered the UK through the Homes for Ukraine Scheme. To contribute as part of the wider team in delivering an effective and efficient Homelessness Prevention and Homelessness Service, in line with the Royal Borough’s statutory responsibilities and strategic aims.
Your Role will involve:&nbsp;
• Deliver excellent customer service by providing appropriate and effective solutions to housing and welfare issues, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
• Provide housing, welfare, and benefit advice; together with guidance on employment opportunities and life in the UK to refugees who have recently been granted status, either following a positive asylum claim or on arrival under a government resettlement scheme, to support their successful integration within the borough.
• Offer expert advice and assistance to stakeholders, advocates, and customers experiencing welfare and benefit issues, working proactively to prevent homelessness and referring cases to partner agencies where appropriate.
• Support the UK Resettlement Team Leader with asylum and refugee work, including the Afghan Resettlement and Homes for Ukraine schemes, as required.
What we are looking for:&nbsp;
&nbsp;• Educated to at least A-level/NVQ Level 3 or experience in relevant field.
• Comprehensive understanding of welfare benefits - including social security legislation, housing benefit, council tax support, tax credits, Universal Credit, and wider welfare reforms, with the ability to apply this knowledge to support households in maximising their income and sustaining accommodation.• Awareness of national resettlement programmes, including knowledge of the UK asylum and refugee system, the Homes for Ukraine Scheme and the Afghan and Syrian Resettlement Schemes.&nbsp;• Strong organisational and time management skills - with the ability to manage a varied caseload, prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines, and maintain high standards in line with quality assurance procedures.• Proven ability to manage complex and sensitive situations - remaining calm, empathetic, friendly, and professional when working with vulnerable customers, often in challenging or high-pressure circumstances. • Partnership working experience - with a track record of building successful relationships and working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, including statutory services, voluntary organisations, and community groups, to achieve positive outcomes for customers. • Additional language - spoken and written desirable.
Specific Working Requirements:
• Valid driving licence (with business insurance cover) - required to travel independently across the borough and wider region in order to carry out home visits, outreach work, partnership meetings, and attend training or other work-related duties.
• Flexibility to work outside normal office hours - including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet service needs, respond to emergencies, attend community events, or represent the Council at meetings as required.

We are looking to recruit a service manager to our Support and Protect service. This is an opportunity for a compassionate, child-centred and family-focused leader to join an effective service, delivering child protection and family help.
You must be someone who can support our continued development to improve the lives of children and families in Sefton.
The post-holder will be able to foster a culture true to Sefton’s values of keeping children and families where it is safe to do so and supporting families to move forward.
Reporting to the Head of Service the successful applicant will be responsible for supervising Team Managers and effectively managing resources to create the conditions in which good practice with children and families can thrive.

About the role
We have a rare vacancy in one of the 5 teams for a Team Manager within West Kent Children in Care Service, based at Worrall House in Kings Hill, West Malling. West Kent covers the districts of Sevenoaks, Swanley, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge &amp; Malling and Maidstone. This is a hybrid working role offering you the opportunity of a good work-home life balance.
Leading a close-knit team of 5/6 social workers, you will be a champion of social work values, delivering and improving services and outcomes for children and young people. Your day to day support and high-quality caseload supervision will ensure your team can meet the complex and changing demands of the service, as well as enable their ongoing development. Working in partnership with a broad range of agencies, you will contribute to the development of Children’s Social Work Services procedures and policies. Advising on commissioning strategies, you will ensure that services are developed and accessible to all children, young people and families needing support, protection and intervention. &nbsp; About you&nbsp;
You will need to be Social Work England registered with a Social Work degree (Dip SW or equivalent social work degree). We are excited to offer a full time 37-hour Temporary 12 months position as Supported Living Supervisor post. This is based in our Supported Living Service Duty Office at 22 Sorogold Close. The post is Monday to Thursday 8-3.30pm and Friday 8-3pm, including bank holidays. The successful candidate will also be part of the out of hours on call rota e.g. 10pm-8am and will join our team of 8 Supervisors. Drivers are desirable but not essential. 
Applicants must have experience of working with adults with a learning disability, and it is essential that they hold NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and ideally possess an NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or a willingness to work towards. Working in a Care Quality Commission Regulated Service applicants must adhere to all standards of the job role.
 Supported Living is a provider service that enables and supports adults with learning disabilities with a range of complex needs such as autism, physical disabilities, and behavioural challenges in their own homes. We adopt a multi-agency approach to help promote positive behaviour management, in the safest, ethical, and most appropriate way possible. The role of Supervisor involves being responsible and accountable for the care and safety of 21 Service Users living in 14 tenancies across the borough of St Helens including providing personal care and meeting support needs as and when the service requires. Our overall aim and ethos are to promote positive fulfilling lives for Service Users, via social inclusion, choice, developing and promoting their independence in a person-centred way. Whilst office based the role can often include directly supporting Service Users in their own home as and when required to meet their needs with personal care using safer people handling equipment were assessed and to manage their challenging behaviour by following risk assessments and risk management strategies, whilst maintaining and promoting their independence at all times. This role will involve supervising and supporting Supported Living Support Workers across the service to ensure they are working from person centred support plans, risk assessments and the promotion of person-centred planning, follow all the policies and procedures that are in place e.g. safeguarding adult’s procedures and attend regular training. Shift Patterns: Shifts patterns Monday-Thursday 8am-3.30pm &amp; Friday 8-3pm working in the Duty Office.
