About The Role

We are excited to advertise for one Residential Support Worker positions to join our committed and highly valued staff team.
The main role is to work as Residential Support Worker rostered rota that reflects the needs of the service, or as required by the Assistant Managers and Registered unit manager. To assist in the day to day running of the Unit, to provide a comprehensive range of services to children and young people with physical or learning disabilities and their families / carers with aim to offer and maximise life opportunities and experiences.
To follow practices that comply with policies and procedures set by the Department and Unit, including standards and requirements set by the Children Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, National Minimum Standards and Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
To work as part of a team to provide a high standard of care that meets the needs of children and young people being Looked After or being provided short breaks services. To work within a framework which safeguards and promotes their well-being.
To follow an assessment framework that encompasses implementation of a care planning and risk assessment structure, which will consider all the physical, psychological, emotional, health, behavioural and independent or dependent needs of children and young people with a disability.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
Westbrook Short Breaks and Resource Unit provide high quality short breaks and flexible support services through a range of measures, in order to support disabled children and young people to live within their family and community within the London Borough of Hounslow.
The Service aims to provide a safe nurturing environment for disabled children and young people, based on the premise that their needs and welfare are paramount and should be met on an individual basis.

Essential for the Role

<li>NVQ Level 3 in Social Care with Children (As of April 2012 Workforce Diploma Level 3 in Residential Child care) or equivalent is essential for this post, therefore, you will be required to hold this qualification on appointment or be committed to working towards achieving this qualification within 12 months of commencement in post.</li>
<li>Sound knowledge of the relevant Legislations in relation to working within a Children’s short break Unit; such as The Children’s Home Regulations 2015, The Children Act 1989, National Minimum Standards, Care Standards Act 2000 and Ofsted legislation.</li>
<li>An enhanced DBS is required for this role.</li>
</ul>
This post is considered by the authority to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers. Our service supports individuals for up to six weeks as they recover from illness, surgery or injury, helping them regain confidence and independence on their journey to recovery.

<li>Work as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.</li>
<li>Provide and work within a planned programme of rehabilitation, care and support for people who use the service following an assessment of their needs, including personal care, meal preparations, exercises and mobility, cognitive therapy and therapeutic moving and handling.</li>

The information/advice will cover a range of topics including SEN support in mainstream school; Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans and processes; appealing an EHC plan or local authority decision and exclusion / suspension from school and home to school transport.</li>
<li>Support service users by signposting them to different local and regional services, including the SEND Local Offer.</li>
<li>Ongoing work with some individuals, empowering them with relevant information to help them to make informed decisions.</li>

This is a full-time, one year fixed term role with hybrid working, and a salary of £32,962 - £36,791 per annum.

To engage with customers on a wide range of housing, welfare, and benefits matters through face-to-face contact, telephone advice, home visits and remote support. To work proactively with both in-house teams and external statutory and voluntary agencies to secure the best outcomes for customers. Your Role will involve:&nbsp;

• Provide housing, welfare, and benefit advice; together with guidance on employment opportunities and life in the UK to refugees who have recently been granted status, either following a positive asylum claim or on arrival under a government resettlement scheme, to support their successful integration within the borough.
