Senior Social Worker/Social Worker Working Age Team
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join and be part of the Working Age, Adult Social Work Team on a permanent basis. We welcome applications from experienced Social Workers.
The Working Age Social Work Team is responsible for adults from the age of 18 to 67 with a Learning Disability, Physical Disability, or a Diagnosis of a Severe and Enduring Mental Health Need. The team is also responsible for the statutory provisions under the Mental Health Act 1983 and runs the Council’s AMHP rota. 
The Social Work team is extremely busy, and the work undertaken is complex and challenging. As a Social Worker on the team, you will be expected to carry a complex caseload made up of all the different client groups the team works with, you will also be undertaking investigations under Safeguarding, Assessments including those under the Care Act, Care Planning and Reviewing. 
The team also undertakes a huge amount of legal work and has an excellent working relationship with the Council’s Legal Team. The successful candidate will have the BIA qualification or be willing to undertake this. The team works very closely with colleagues in Merseycare, we have a social work presence in all the Merseycare in-patient wards which are now across the whole footprint of the Merseycare region. We are also proud to have implemented a new Homelessness Social Work post, which works with the homelessness population in St Helens, this post is attached to the Social Work team however operates within the outreach service, YMCA, and Salvation Army. 
The successful candidate will be a qualified AMHP or willing to undertake AMHP training. You will have the opportunity to develop your social work skills and knowledge by supporting the AMHPs when undertaking Mental Health Act Assessments in the community and hospital settings. The AMHP rota is managed by our AMHP Lead and runs until 8pm Monday to Friday so there may be times when you are asked to work past your normal working hours. 
In return you will be provided with management support from the team manager, AMHP Lead and 2 Advanced Practitioners and you will be part of a very supportive team, receive monthly supervision, informal supervision, appraisals, one to one support and monthly team meetings and have access to on-going training and development.

Making a Difference as Assistant Team Manager in Children’s Services

The current post is within the Duty Service. This service is responsible for responding to all referrals, completing assessments, and undertaking sec 47 enquiries. Once assessments are completed and a plan agreed, cases will either be held for short review, or transferred to Help and Protection teams for longer term intervention as CP or PLO, long term CIN.
The posts include some home working but will require you to regularly attend the St Helens office and travel around the St Helens and surrounding areas.

Sefton Adult Social Care are looking to recruit a Social Worker to the Mental Health North Team based at Hartley Hospital in Southport, to support the delivery of the Adult Community Mental Health Services in the North of the borough.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified Social Worker with an interest in developing their skills and knowledge in a busy and exciting multidisciplinary work environment, working with a diverse and complex service user group.
The Mental Health Team North is co-located on the same site as health colleagues employed by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust in the North Sefton Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), working closely with a range of different professionals including Community Psychiatric Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists and Clinical Psychologists.
The Mental Health Team North is responsible for undertaking community and hospital-based casework for individuals with severe and enduring mental health problems, who are currently under the care of secondary mental health services, or detained/admitted to psychiatric hospital wards across the Local and Mid-Mersey Divisions.
The successful post holders will be expected to have a competent skill set in undertaking a range of statutory interventions, including social care needs assessments under the Care Act 2014, Section 42 Safeguarding Enquiries, and a good working knowledge of both the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007).
PG Cert in Approved Mental Health Professional Practice (AMHP) and Best Interest Assessor (BIA) qualifications is desirable; however, these training opportunities will be offered to any successful applicant once they have resumed their post as an essential part of their training and development.
Once qualified, the successful applicants would be required to support the Sefton AMHP Service, including working on a duty AMHP rota in addition to their community-based casework and core duties within the team.
If appropriate, the Salary is supplemented by an AMHP allowance of £2,205 a year, paid on a pro rata basis.

We are currently looking to recruit an Assessment &amp; Review Worker into the CHC and DOLS Team. The team’s base is Forster House and consists of Social Workers, Best Interest Assessors, Assessment and Review Workers and a supportive admin team.
 
The role of the Assessment and Review Worker is to arrange and manage reviews for individuals who receive support provided by the Local Authority and ICB. This will include individuals supported within a variety of settings including in their own home, in residential or nursing care, within sheltered accommodation and supported living settings. The reviews will ensure the support provided continue to meet the individuals care needs as defined under the Care Act 2014. Other tasks/responsibilities required within this role would be to assist the team by carrying out a Duty Role according to the needs of the team and to undertake joint visits with other team members where necessary.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to gain and develop experience. The team is a supportive team and the Assessment and Review Worker will work alongside Social Workers and Managers. In addition there will be an opportunity to work closely with colleagues from the ICB. A good induction and monthly supervision will be provided as well as ongoing peer support.

The team has a flexible working arrangement, which means you will be required to divide your working week between home and the designated office.

Making a Difference as Social Worker in Adults Services
Our Social Workers are pivotal to our teams. When you join us in Adult Services you will undertake needs led assessments and provide specialist support to adults and their carers, service users, and colleagues.
It is essential that you have a knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidance, risk factors and difficulties relevant to client groups, understanding of rehabilitation processes, particularly in relation to older people, knowledge of user and carer issues and a thorough understanding of the care management process.
To apply you will also have experience of developing care packages, working with older/disabled people and working in a muliti-agency setting.
CQSW, DipSW or CSS or BA Hons in Social Work is essential and willingness to undertake all essential training.
