<h3>About you…</h3>
This role plays a key part in reducing drug and alcohol-related offending by supporting individuals within the criminal justice system to access community-based treatment services. These services aim to address and challenge the relationship between substance use and offending behaviour.
You will have experience working within the criminal justice system, along with a strong understanding of the impact of drug and alcohol-related offending. You will be confident in building effective working relationships with both criminal justice and community partners to maximise opportunities for engaging individuals in support and treatment.
This role is office based with the requirement to deliver interventions in the wider community.
<h3>About the team…</h3>
Drug related offending can lead to people becoming trapped in a cycle of offending behaviour.&nbsp; It does not only effect the individual, it also affects their families and the wider community. &nbsp;By working with both adults and young people involved in the criminal justice system, we have the opportunity to engage with individuals at the earliest possible stage, helping them to change the direction of their lives and build a more positive future.
Teamwork and strong partnership working are essential to the success of this service.&nbsp; Building effective relationships with key partner agencies will ensure that individuals receive the right support at the right time, increasing the chances of sustained recovery and reduced re-offending.
Close collaboration with Probation and the local Youth Justice team will be vital to delivering meaningful change and making a real difference in the lives of those we support.
<h3>Key responsibilities…</h3>
<ul>
<li>To carry out initial assessments, e.g. triage and comprehensive assessments, in respect of adults and young people who are involved with the criminal justice system and may be subject to statutory orders.</li>
<li>To carry out risk assessments in accordance with organisational and local protocols and risk management plans to address and manage identified risks.</li>
<li>Offer general information and harm reduction interventions to service users, including provision of alcohol interventions, brief advice and Naloxone as required.</li>
<li>To create initial support plans with service users that addresses immediate need and provides a basis for further interventions.</li>
<li>To conduct Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR) / Alcohol Treatment Requirement (ATR) assessments and facilitate interventions aimed at reducing offending behaviour to this cohort.</li>
<li>To assess and engage all young people referred to the Drug Diversion Scheme and deliver the program as required.</li>

You must have a current Social Work England registration and have successfully completed your ASYE in a statutory children social care setting. We are looking for someone with experience of working with children and families that includes Child in Need and Child protection.

The Children’s Specialist Support Team (CSST) is a highly skilled team working with children who have disabilities and/or complex health needs. We are an experienced, friendly and supportive team who focuses on ensuring that children are at the centre of all we do.&nbsp; We provide a range of services for children with additional needs and those who are assessed to have additional vulnerability. This includes the council’s statutory responsibilities for disabled Children in Need in the community (including care packages and short breaks).
The team is an eclectic mix of different service areas covering a wide breadth of work with children with disabilities, Occupational Therapy, Short Breaks (including Larchwood, our short break respite unit), Taking a child first and social model approach. The Family &amp; Friends Team work closely and cooperatively with colleagues within the Family Placement Team, with social workers and managers from other Children’s Services, and with the Joint Legal Team. The work is interesting, often complex and challenging but is crucial to achieving placement stability and permanence.
Main accountabilities of the role:

<li>Viability assessments, often jointly with social workers for children/young people.</li>
<li>Private Fostering assessments.</li>
<li>Form K (Connected Carer Assesment) and presenting to Fostering Panel.</li>
<li>Special guardianship assessments for court, in conjunction with social workers for children/young people.</li>
<li>Supporting and supervising carers in assessment.</li>
<li>Taking part in the Family Placement Team (FPT) duty system, supporting colleagues and contributing to service delivery and development.</li>
<li>Attending meetings and contributing to care planning decisions</li>
<li>Conducting unannounced visits</li>
<li>Supporting Reg 24 assessments</li>
</ul>
Given that the work involves completing assessments within specified timescales and against court deadlines, you must have good planning and organisational skills. We will support you to do this.

Wokingham Children’s Services are looking to recruit an experienced Social Worker in the MASH Team on a Permanent Basis. The MASH Team is a fast-paced team and the Single Front Door into Children’s Services and Early Help, the role represents the wider service and is often the first point of contact for families, members of the public and professionals. Strong relational skills are key to respond to others in need, and sometimes in crisis. Most of the work undertaken will be on the phone, however the team also have a walk in service, should a family wish to present to the office for advice and support.
As a Social Worker in the MASH Team you will need to be able to process contacts within timescales and as part of this role you will speak to members of the public, professionals, and family members and provide detailed analyses and recommendations about next steps for families and complete safety planning as required.&nbsp; The MASH Team completes robust work at the front door to ensure that the correct level of support and intervention is provided, in line with the Threshold document.
The correct candidate for this role will need to have great inter-personal skills, excellent recording skills, and a sound knowledge of children’s legislation and thresholds – as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to multi-task.&nbsp; The MASH Team is currently working in a hybrid way with Social Workers on a rota basis. We need to have social work presence in the office – so a level of flexibility is required.

The Social Worker role – You will work as part of a dynamic and multi-agency team assessing safeguarding notifications and requests for early help regarding children aged prebirth - 18.&nbsp; Your focus will be on gathering relevant information, in order to interpret and analyse strengths and safety, harm and danger to safeguard and promote the welfare of the child/young person.
The MASH team is home to representatives from our partner agencies including Police and Health and refers to the virtual links we have with Housing, Probation, Education and Cranstoun Domestic Abuse &amp; Substance Misuse Services. The right candidate must work collaboratively with these agencies to make sure the child’s voice is evident through the work completed.
This is a fast-paced team and requires committed and resilient social workers to rise to the challenge of this role!

Senior Social Worker/Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Wokingham Borough Council's Integrated Mental Health Service for an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)/ Senior Social Worker (non-Social Worker AMHPs also welcome to apply).
As a Senior Social Worker/Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) you will join a passionate and dynamic team, playing an integral role as, we collaborate with The Health Trust to transform our services and develop a dedicated social care pathway.
We are looking for a self-motivated and legally literate individual, who possesses the AMHP qualification. You will be required to work primarily as an AMHP within the service and provide support to junior colleagues.&nbsp;&nbsp;Those on the AMHP rota receive a generous AMHP allowance of £5355 - £7000 (depending on experience).
We are seeking a part-time 0.45 FTE AMHP but are flexible and open to considering how these 15 hours/week could be worked to support AMHP provision in the team. The role requires good formulation skills and the ability to carry out comprehensive risk assessments, and strengths-based interventions.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The ideal candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of Safeguarding, the MHA, MCA, CA and Human Rights legislation.&nbsp; They must also be a skilled communicator, have excellent organisational skills, and have good IT abilities. Additionally, evidence of continuous personal and professional development (CPD) is required. If you are an AMHP who has been out of practice, we may be able to support your re-approval and get you back up and running.&nbsp;&nbsp;

<h3>Interview date&nbsp;</h3>
Shortlisting will be done on a weekly basis and interviews will be arranged a minimum of 7 days after this for suitable applicants.
Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.
