Covering three sites and out of borough hospital work, Islington Hospital Social Work Service is an exciting and dynamic environment to work in with much opportunity to enjoy multidisciplinary and close partnership working. The service has two teams, one based at The Whittington Hospital and one at University College Hospital London. The teams are friendly and supportive, and take pride in tackling the challenges our work presents. The service aims to facilitate safe and timely discharge of Islington residents from hospital within an enabling approach in order to ensure that residents are given every opportunity to reach their full potential and level of independence.

We are looking for four enthusiastic, hardworking Social Workers. Applicants will hold a professional social work qualification and post qualifying experience in adult social care is beneficial. Applicants must be GSCC registered. You must be able to work under pressure and to tight timescales, and demonstrate an ability to prioritise the demands of work. You must be able to maintain good working relationships with health colleagues in an acute hospital environment and community settings, so as to facilitate safe and timely discharge from hospital and demonstrate an ability to work effectively and proactively as a member of multidisciplinary teams. The ability to assess and manage risk appropriately is essential as much of the work involves complex social care and safeguarding issues.

Islington Adult Social Services is a paperless working environment and as such uses an integrated IT system to manage all aspects of day to day work. For this reason applicants must be efficient in the use of IT.

All applicants must be aware that the Islington Hospital Social Work Service is currently under review. It is a likely outcome that 7 day working will be introduced as part of this review and therefore be required of the successful applicants.
