About You
At UCG we offer a range of ESOL courses for both young learners and &nbsp;to adults. Courses for young learners include subjects relating to Business, Personal Development, ICT and GCSE Maths. The courses are delivered at Entry 3 to Level 2. Our well established and highly successful ESOL team deliver these courses to around 280 young learners and 2000 individual adultslearners across all of our campuses to learners who are looking to develop their English Language skills with a view to progressing onto higher levels of learning, into employment or starting their own businesses.
The successful applicant will coordinate the effective delivery of the ESOL study programmes across various levels providing academic leadership for students, creating a curriculum that is engaging, relevant and coherent in line with local and national priorities. As a Lecturer, you will promote a stimulating learning environment and use a range of teaching and learning strategies and materials, including the use of digital &nbsp;resources, to encourage development of learners’ skills and understanding. You will support and motivate learners to meet their individual aspiration and goals and will coordinate the tracking of learners’ achievements. In your role you will lead study or adult programmes to attain outstanding achievement and student retention and progression.
You will have sound organisational skills,&nbsp;your ability to work cooperatively and contribute positively and creatively to a team is also essential.&nbsp;Wand you will have the opportunity to work towards a teaching qualification. You will have a recognised ESOL qualification. About the Job The role includes teaching at Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 on Early Years/Teaching Assistant courses at our centres. Exact course dates/times can be negotiated, but generally take place during the daytime or evening. You will prepare and deliver teaching and learning that meets the individual needs of the learners and help them develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding. You will assess and provide meaningful and developmental feedback to learners as required. You will deliver Pre-Course Interviews to ensure learners are enrolled in the right class at the right level. You will ensure assessment records are kept up-to-date and targets are met. You must have the ability to take initiative and the ability to research, produce, and use teaching resources to maintain high standards of learning in different environments including the use of e-learning, the last of which is essential. It is also essential that you have a desire to develop and use new methods of teaching and learning to engage and motivate your learners. Successful candidates will have an understanding of Equality and Diversity, and an appreciation of the requirements of teachers under the Safeguarding of Children &amp; Vulnerable Adults regulations. Successful applicants will be responsible for their own travel to and from the delivery centres.&nbsp; About You The successful candidate should hold the following essential criteria: <ul>
<li>Extensive experience of teaching within the Vocational Teaching Assistant/Early Years qualifications</li> <li>Experience of using MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)</li> <li>Assessor certificate – TAQA 3 or equivalent</li> <li>IQA certificate – TAQA 4 or equivalent (desirable)</li> <li>Experience of mentoring</li> <li>Hold a full UK driving licence</li> <li>A Level 4 Teaching Qualification for post-compulsory settings (e.g. CTLLS or CET) as a minimum*</li> <li>GCSE Grade 9 - 5 English and maths qualifications (or equivalent)</li> <li>Consideration will be given to exceptional applicants who do not hold, but are willing to gain, their Teaching Qualification and Assessor Certificate, if successful.
